Why don't more guys post on Rentmen.com?

I was just wondering -- given the discussions on here about the shortcomings of rentboy and particularly men4rentnow -- why rentmen hasn't caught on more.

Others may find that that their advertising dollars are better spent where there's a critical mass of clients.

It's a sort of catch-22, sadly - escorts don't use it because not enough clients do, and clients don't use it because not enough escorts do!

 

My one complaint is having to pay to see the videos - which I refuse to do. But that doesn't stop me from using it to look for escorts in my area.

I like rentmen and hope it catches on. It's not very expensive so I keep a listing there, though have not got a lot of responses through it yet. But I'm willing to hold in there for the long-term while the site begins reaching critical mass. I hope other guys do the same... I have no stake in rentmen but like its interface and hope it can muscle in and become more popular.

 

My stats are about opposite Kevin Slater's: Most of my business comes from men4rentnow, only about 10% from rentboy, and so far only one appointment from rentmen. Some inquiries come directly to my email or phone, though, so those could be generated from any of these including rentmen.

 

Another reason rentmen might not be getting as many advertisers is I'm not sure how much marketing it does to escorts. I only ended up there because I kept seeing other escorts here on the forum list it in their signatures and it looked like a growing trend. It looked like a good site so I thought I'd give it a try. I can't recall getting any kind of invitation or special offer to join, however, whereas rentboy will send follow-up emails and special renewal offers if you let your membership lapse.

Interesting, guys. Thanks. I hope to hear some more perspectives. It sounds like a chicken-and-egg problem. I think if all the popular escorts from this forum went there en masse, that could help kick start it.

I suspect the impetus would need to come from the other side. Assuming a fixed clientele, why would escorts purposefully drive traffic through a third channel through which they would now have to advertise at an additional monthly expense for themselves?

I have just the last 20 minutes looking at Rentmen, and as a client I was impressed. I found it to be fast, easy to navigate, and most importantly, the profile format is excellent. I felt I really knew something about the escort, and what he is into. I like this site, I will use it.

I have felt for the last 18 months that RENTMEN is a much more professional and easily navigatable site and prefer it to all the others.

 

I realize that RENTBOY seems to have a corner on the market, but I dislike their format, the search engine sometimes is pretty capricious and oddly there are actually 2 different search engines and they screw one up (in the mind, nowhere else, unfortunately).

 

MEN4RENTNOW I rarely use (I am in NY area so no need, really) but when I travel, it seems to be the only place one can find anyone (aside from ADAM4ADAM which is crap in my books).

 

So -- I keep pushing and suggesting RENTMEN to other clients -- and keep hoping its business will grow.

I wished Rentmen did more advertising so that it would catch on. It's a very user friendly site and very affordable. I've actually have been doing much better on the site. Currently 18% of my clients are coming from that site. I don't do Rentboy because I really don't consider myself a boy. I've tried rentboy and didn't do too well there. Though I don't like the site all that much, most of my clients come from M4RN

I can only join the rest of the guys who said that even though Rentmen.com has an excellent customer service, I get 3-5 clients from there per year. If I have to rely on that one website, I could easily starve. As it has been said previously, the number of visitors of that site is not even close to what M4R or Rentboy has and until that changes many escorts (especially the ones who are just starting escorting) do not intend to pay (even though it is just a little amount) and wait months until they meet one person.

Great idea, but don't think it'd work. In addition, I was a bit amused at how many misspelled words were used on rentmen. Rentboy is supposed to be all big and bad and I was utterly shocked when I seen how many were using rentboy in places like Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. 429 guys in Hong Kong? I mean, even Malaysia has 88! Yet you go to many towns right here in the US, and men4rent prevails over it. It's like nobody has ever even heard of rentboy. And doesn't seem many use men4rent in China either...

 

I'm still unsure why some websites pick up sites over others...perhaps google? I first remember seeing rentboy in the gay magazines and when I contacted them asking if they still advertise in them, they would say not much business came from the magazines...

 

I personally got tired of rentmen taking my money and nothing in return. But it was fun looking at the cheesy amateur vids and I liked that you couldn't right click and copy the photos.

Yeah, forget about that site. I am not paying $30 a month to put up with an endless supply of ridicule, ridiculous emails and texts. And 20-something year olds disregarding my ad thinking they can say hello to me as if they don't see what I'm there for. Even with the clients that I do get from there, the cost of the site and the amount you get paid from there outweighs the benefits. They are in the same category as backpage and should not be charging regular escort site rates.

The high number of escorts you see in Hong Kong (429) and other places in Asia is due to the fact that Rentboy doesn't charge for a standard (Classic Ad).

If rentboy can get that kind of volume in Asia with free Classic ads, maybe that would be a strategy for rentmen to gain market share in North America. Ahem, anyone at rentmen out there listening? ;-)

average client does not know rentmen.com even exists. No one has heard of it in most areas. In Atlanta I do well with it but home in New Orleans nothing- ever- nada! I agree it is a fantastic site.
