I just noticed Renn Callahan's posts in the escort travel forum...If you wan to book in advanced he requires a 50% non-refundable deposit through PayPal or credit card...

This is the first time seeing something like this but have had a number of conversations with travelling escorts about last minute cancellations and no-shows....

Is this the answer...and will clients accept this practice.

I hear from lot's of traveling escorts the flakiness of clients in my fair city. I can understand the frustration especially when they have overhead to travel and stay here. Would I pay a deposit in advance? Perhaps only if they are a well established escort both on Daddy's or in the forum. Personally I'd draw the line at $50. The advantage of PayPal is that if the escort doesn't follow through and will not refund you it's easy to chargeback since there is no proof you authorized the transaction to begin with.

I'm curious how many bookings he gets.

If you know the escort well enough to give him a deposit, he knows you well enough to know whether he needs it or not. So I for one, would not pay a down payment unless it was needed by the escort for a personal reason. I have never stiffed an escort, well in the sense of not paying him, of course, I have stiffed many in the other sense.

The disadvantage of PayPal is that if the escort does follow through with the session, it is equally easy to do a chargeback.

I would do it if this would cause the escort to more seriously consider the appointment I make as something for real. I think giving some money to a person for people to "make their intentions known" is a good idea and although I know that people would not like the idea in general..it would still serve a purpose which would help to eliminate serious vs. not-so-serious clients. There will still be some "not so serious" clients that will inevitably slip through the system however and although I know that this system is not right for everybody, perhaps someday it will be used as another available option that escorts can offer for clients to enhance their service which some people can use or not as they see fit.

First of all, I have never stiffed an escort either with his fee or with travel expenses. I do not use plastic, cash only, and after some of the horror stories I have heard about pay pal, I don't want to use them either.

Once he has arrived, I reimburse his travel at the earliest possible moment. He gets his fee just before he leaves.

Too many bad experiences with upfront money. enough said.

I think the problem that Renn may have here is that the majority of the posters here on the forum at least are more than likely going to be the cream of the crop, client wise, and would be loathe to still an escort. As for me, I too have never stiffed an escort and can't even imagine doing it. And when I say stiffed, I mean cancel. I think there are only a few conditions that would force me to cancel: weather (I couldn't get there), serious enough illness to require hospitalization and death. And on the first two, I'll make damned sure he gets paid the full amount we had agreed on. I did almost run into scenario 1 this winter when a very well known escort was in NY and I was flying in to see him. The weather forecast for the day of the meeting kept changing from horrible to great, at least twice a day for a week. But to be safe, I'd started making inquiries about how to get him his fee should I have to cancel because LaGuardia wasa closed.

I guess this is where this thread and the Client Reviews thread meet. If he had some way to verify the bona fides of the client, perhaps Renn wouldn't necessarily need to ask for upfront money. However, as it is, I've heard the same story from a lot of the guys I see - late, last minute cancellations. I wouldn't be thrilled, but were I interested in hiring Renn, I might be willing to go ahead. But only because the man has 79 positive reviews on here going back almost a decade. I would have a very different reaction to someone with limited or no track record. I'd take it on a case by case basis, but the default position is no.

I have never flown an unknown escort to me. If I find an out of town guy who really interests me, being retired, I fly to him. This solves the problem of the escort concerned about having me cancel on him. I usually arrange appointments a month or more in advance. I have on two occasions canceled an appointment with an escort but did so with more than a weeks notice in both cases.

Some will, some won't.

This kind of goes back to my topic about overseas travel and why I have concerns about it. By requiring deposits, at least it gives a better guarantee of the booking taking place. However, not everyone is willing to do so and there are times when sometimes I feel the need to ask, other times I don't. And it's not biased against the client; it's dependent on distance and whether I have the money to spend and risk in the event something unpredicted comes up on there end.

There's been times where I've gone places and said, "I will never travel again without getting a deposit". Then there's been other times I've gone places and didn't even think twice about asking for deposits; everyone showed up, and all was well.

However, I think pal-pal is kinda risky, not to mention antique method for doing deposits. There's way better alternatives out there, and easier...
