This is really interrupting what's supposed to be a fun and profitable vacation...

 

For those of you who use men4rent, know how it goes. You pay $39.95 and then it re-bills at $99.95 just like all the internet porn websites (colt, extra-big dicks).

 

Well, they got the $39.95 in the form of an online check I wrote out. It came out 2 weeks later. Then, they re-billed it as an online check and I did not realize they had used that method until I found out they tried to collect it 2 weeks later again for the $99.95 when the funds happened to be in my savings account. Well, I received no notification from either CCBill/Wintice (their 3rd party billing group) nor men4rent as to when they would debit out the $99.95. However, my bank rejected the payment and I was also not notified until I look at my ad this morning and I can't log in! It's gone, not even listed.

 

And what makes it so bad is I was on my way 500 miles across the country to another state and my ad isn't up!

 

I have been furious all day about this and customer service also mentioned to not allow me back on the site. This after I have paid them every month for over 2 years! However, they were willing to let me send a money order in the mail. WTF!? I have used the same checking account to make my payment for the last 4 months. I am out of town on business and my ad isn't up. And I've been a long-standing member.

 

I know bouncing a check isn't good, but most companies you pay a fee and then use another payment method (not snail mail). I have never bounced a check with my regular bills, but some weeks I want to hold off on paying for advertisement (especially when 10 other bills are due the same week!) and so I use an online check until I can put money in my account, which I ALWAYS do within 2-3 days at the most, always after the 1st client I see...but this go around I had no idea they re-billed me thru a check nor did I know which date they were going to run the check thru. And it's different with regular bills because if you don't have it right then, they give you time to pay it. But men4rent/rentboy all these other sites cut your ad off the day your membership expires. Hell, even my gym lets you attend 3 times after your bill is due if it's late!

 

For them to do something like this is disheartening because it's my only means of income (which happens to be very decent and comfortable). The money has been sitting in my account all this time and they are not compromising.

 

I have never been able to find out who owns that site or the name of the webmaster. Does anyone know if the owner for Cruisingforescorts.com is the same owner for men4rent? I get tired of emailing back and forth. Atleast with rentboy you can call and speak to live people and the owner. Only thing is out here in the mountain west it just isn't very popular

I've had a few problems with M4RN myself. Instead of trying to provide better customer service, their solution to me was that they could just drop me from the site. Well, since the majority of my clients do come from that site, I really had no choice other than to just forget about the whole thing. I really wish I could drop M4RN, but I would be cutting my own throat if I did. I don't get as many clients from Rentmen, however I do like the way they manage their site a lot better

I advertise with them because in certain parts of AMerica no one uses Rentboy or Rentmen so m4rn is the ONLY choice. I have never had a problem with them. Here is what works 4 me: I use a major credit card and allow a monthy charge to pay for my platinum ad. No checks, nothing, just a monthy charge to my card which has a high balance and is never declined. They get traffic, we get customers therefore it is a real suicide to NOT TO be on that website... I am surprised when Ace said they have a lousy customer service because that means they do have some sort of customer service... to me it just looks like a "bot" operated website

BTW, to answer your original question, I have heard that it is an UK based company. They might have some sort of office in the USA but the company based in the UK. That's a rumour I have no proof of that.

I know thes listing sites are a necessary evil, but I encourage all of you to establish your own websites to control your own web presence.

 

No it's not searchable on a listing but your fans will know where to find you and when something like this happens you can recover quickly.

I did that a few months ago when a check bounced. It was my first time using a check method last year and I did so because they were blocking my bank card. The reason for the block made no sense at all: saying my bank was giving a code that my card was stolen and there's no way it could ever be used again. Well, I tried my checking account number and it went thru. However, so much time went by before they ran the check thru, that I forgot I'd even made the check payment and closed that account and went to a different bank. All hell broke lose and they deleted me from the site.

 

Then, I went and created a new ad. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I did mail them a money order for the bounced check costs. But I made a new email and then emailed me out of the blue to my new address saying, "I noticed you changed email address and that if I messed up again they would ban me forever."

 

So I don't want to sneak around and create a new ad because they may then freeze that ad without a refund if they find out. I know them, they are fucking evil..just like Kevin said.

I couldn't agree more. And I used to have a website as well but I snipped it. But it made me think how by the balls we are with these websites. Heaven forbid the site gets shut down or we get banned.

 

However, the good news is my regulars are still contacting me and I also advertise nearly a month prior to my coming here. So have a separate email folder of all the clients who emailed me prior to coming here...and I just met 1 on my first day and he was hot!

 

But, I'm still upset because some of my clients are confused and I just can't let them know that my check bounced I next-day aired a money order to 'Wintice Group' and they better have my ad up by tomorrow.

 

It also upsets me that they seem totally disinterested in trying to deal with their customers (us). They don't give any advice on how to write an ad, don't contact us personally in any way regarding our account...yet they are happy to just take take take our money. Without them, we could still find other websites. Craigslist shut down and I thought that was the end of the world...but I just moved to another city and now I make far more than I ever did on craigslist.

 

On the flip side, that site wouldn't be anything without us either. If it were up to me I'd organize a nationwide BOYCOTT of men4rent and their equally awful CCBill by not paying the next membership fee until they listened and paid better attention to us. Get someone to answer the phone instead of this sorry excuse for communication. But I know there are some hardheaded escorts out there that are just as driven by the money as that site is and are probably happy with their shitty service...well just wait til an issue arises (which usually does).

 

This whole thing is just messing me up. I just feel so out of place right now. I'm not the type to cry but for them to take my ad off completely while I'm out of town is just wrong. Ok, maybe not an organized boycott. But an organized email demanding better customer service and addressing us by name rather than 'Dear Sir". It's bad enough we as escorts in this country don't have much legal recourse as it is when it comes down to it, why allow a website that we depend on make that even more so?

Think about it, how is it that men4rent can keep zombie ads up that haven't given them a dime in weeks, even for months without a phone number and confuse potential clients, technically allowing them to 'advertise' FOR FREE yet when a consistently paying, well established, good review having, professional photo having member bounces a check, their ad is deleted without warning, without notification that it even happened? The only remark I have is they edit your ad for explicit content before it goes online. Sometimes "explicit" may be very subjective. For instance you won't be able to say "fu@k you" there.
