I've always found tattoos kinda sexy. I don't have any, but my BF does.

However, I don't like then on the stomach, and I don't really like really huge "sleves" on an entire arm. Though I do like large back tats.

I recently saw an escort add where the guy had a Biohazard symbol tattoo on his chest. Sexy: yes. Am I gonna hire that guy: No way!

Was just wondering what others thought of them. Especially the Biohazard one; really, what's up with that?!

The legendary porn director, Joe Gage, ponders the question of tattoos in his blog. He asks "Is today’s ink this generation’s mullet?"

There was a time when having a tattoo meant having an edge and was a symbol of nonconformity. Now, tattoos are so common many lack any originality whatsoever and are more conformist than edgy. While I still appreciate a fine example of good body art, there's so much lousy over the top ink jobs now very little of it is appealing IMO.

I saw a picture of a guy with the biohazard symbol on his lower back (i.e., above his ass). Scary!

My understanding is that the biohazard tattoo is a reference to being HIV+, or at least that was the concept when it first started appearing on guys years back. I had a roommate who had one, and I think he had it inked in the early 90s.

I can appreciate one or possibly two strategically-placed tattoos on a masculine guy. But, I find multiple tats to be distracting from an otherwise beautiful, muscular physique. There's one long-time escort whom I hired last year that reveals NO tats in his ad photos on Rentboy and M4RN.. However, when he arrived at my hotel it was immediately obvious this fellow sports tats (including several very large ones) virtually all over his torso--front and back. Naturally, I felt deceived from the get-go...and that pretty much set the tone for what turned out to be a very disappointing encounter. Escorts: Some prospective clients will find you more desirable if you have lots of tattoos and others will not. But if you have tattoos covering a large portion of your torso, be upfront about it. Imho, the right thing to do is to depict the tats in your ads and don't "airbrush" the tats out of your pics.

Goodfella, you raise a very good point and I agree that reference should be made if someone has covered a significant portion of their body with tattoos. However, I can understand why some guys do not want to show their ink in advertisments.

Unusual or distinctive body art can be an easy way to identify a person. No doubt some guys cover the tattoos so that they are not discovered by friends or family. Maximum Escort service in NYC makes reference on some of their guys' pics that tattoos have been covered for this purpose. I'm not sure if they will send a photo of the guy for the client to see the extent of the artwork but at least they inform the client.

I looked this up via Urban Dictionary and the answer is "yes" and "no" depending on the reason why an individual chose to get the artwork.

Remember back in the early days of HIV there were those who called for the identification of positive individuals with tattoos or the like. I think much like the inverted pink triangle used by Nazi Germany which Gays adopted as a symbol of pride decades later, an element of the Poz community chose to adopt the biohazard symbol as the in-your-face response the discrimination encountered from straights as well as gays in many respects. Good for them.

I definitely like tattos on guys...up to a very high limit....I don't find too large tattoos attractive if there is not enough skin to balance the artwork. I prefer them as accent points to a beautiful body. I got my first tattoo last year at 60 yrs. old. and plan on one or two more...I am not an attractive guy so having the nice artwork only improves the neighborhood, so to speak....

As far as the biohazard tat, I have known guys that it did indeed mean they were Poz and others that it did not. Last I checked, it was still everyone's responsibility to actually ask a sexual partner what their status is.

Concerning personal taste, tattoos require a lot of thought and varies from person to person. Liking a full-covered back but not arms makes little sense to some but plenty to others.

As an escort, I have given up theorizing on how will my clientele will take getting a new tat or piercing. I also haven't bothered getting anymore. Having only two tats and 6ga plugs in my lobes, I still straddle the fence on even being noticed for them. No one has been bothered by the plugs since I stretched to them; yet I'm always arguing with my bf if I should go larger.

BTW, few bottoms notice a back tat. LOL I've had bottoms that say they hate large tats but never comment about the sort of large one on my back.

ArVaGuy, You make a very valid point--one which I had not even considered. I've learned as a general rule now to ask all escorts if they have many tats or piercings that aren't visible in their ad pics. Just to ensure there are no surprises.
