just being good looking or extremely good looking does not make one an actor. Acting is a talent and a gift that few possess and most of us have tried it. I did several commercials but it is so COMPETITIVE that most don't have the patience to stick with it and frankly most of us hate rejection. all actors suffer alot of rejection before success. As an escort I am almost never rejected. Maybe one in a thousand clients does not like me. escorting is good money and a sure thing. One more thing: We do consider ourselves, "Models." In many print publications we are called model-escorts. We are private models. In my early 20's I did a little fashion modeling and essentially did not eat for weeks at a time. The pressure to be skinny is ridiculous. Secondly, most male models are 6'1" or taller and most escorts fall into the average height range say 5 -7 to 5-11. They want you tall and thin cause it photographs better and looks better on camera but when you meet these boys in person sometimes they look really sick.

Most every waiter in LA is an actor...

From 2008 SAG Contract Negotiations Details:

How things look for middle-income actors today

• The average annual TV/Theatrical earnings for middle-income actors is approximately $52,000 a year.

• When actors are employed, their overall compensation is decreasing.

• Inflation adjusted average session earnings are dropping.

• Average inflation adjusted residuals decreased 7% from 2003 to 2007.

• Changes in the broadcast business model mean fewer employment opportunities for actors.

So in LA here the average studio apartment is $800/month, plus utilities comes to $1,000. $52K is not a great income. Try having a life!

I'm assuming you're talking about mainstream acting and modeling, as opposed to porn?

My hunch is that mainstream acting and modeling are both very competitive with a lot of backbiting. If rumor got out that an actor or model was escorting, I'd think they could very easily get blacklisted. Hell, it's still considered dangerous for actors to be known as gay, so it's an act of courage for those who come out.

Porn on the other hand, there is crossover but also lots of guys will choose just one or the other. In theory an escort can disappear from sight with few traces left behind, whereas porn images endure and can be resurrected at any time. On the other hand, some porn actors get off on the exhibitionism of performing but are not interested in escort work.
