What type of hotels do you stay in?

Lately, as in the past few months; I have 'downgraded' my hotel criteria. I tend to find the cheapest hotel I can find, but it has to have stuff like fridge, microwave and a pool/jacuzzi. And of course it has to be in a safe area. No Motel 6s, or Super 8s, or anything in that bracket. Don't get me wrong, I have stayed in those from time to time...but generally I prefer not to because for 1, they have strict rules about bringing people over at night and generally aren't too comfortable to be in for more than a few hours sleep.

So, now I'm back on tour again and I've been trying to decipher between which hotels to go to. So far it's been a Days Inn (which received a 90% score on HotWire and was a new building) and now it's a similar 2.5 star hotel with the basics I mentioned but nothing fancy. No full service gym, bar or restaurant but there is 2 restaurants right across the parking lot. I was REALLY wanting to stay at the Embassy Suites, but I just can't see a reason to unless I'm on a real vacation with someone who's going to help me split the costs.

I generally go for a Candlewood suites, Hawthorne suites, Hyatt Place, Holiday Inn Express type places. Or I'll go to a 1 owner place that used to be a chain. I've even gone as far as Baymont Inn.

However, I just have no desire to stay at some of the more upscale spots like Hyatt, Doubletree or Mariott. For one they nickel and dime you for everything and you have to beg for a fridge and microwave. Although the comfort level of those is undeniable, I also don't see a point in spending the money I'm making on a fancy hotel room when I could just get something cheap and comfortable. I mean, it's not like we get any corporate rate on rooms so all the lodging is coming out of my earnings. Now, my condo at home is a whole different story...I put in a lot and don't scrimp on anything.

I just ask because it seems most of us advertise ourselves as staying in some upscale downtown hotel...I never understood why it's so popular to do so.

I went to see a guy in in a cheap downtown hotel in Philadelphia awhile ago. The guy met me in the lobby, and when we went to go upstairs the desk clerk charged $5.00 for me to go up. It was the most unconfortable feeling. I felt like a piece of trash. Took the mood away, and I really didn't enjoy the session.

Mocha, Have you checked out some of the discount websites like http://www.hotels.com or http://www.hotwire.com? You could probably get a 3.5 to 4 star room for the same rate or less than what you're currently paying. (Didn't mean for that to sound like a commercial.) lol

If an escort is charging $1,000 +/- for an overnight, most clients are probably expecting a little more upscale hotel as a venue. Just a nice touch IMHO.

As was mentioned in another thread (Yes, I'm still sorting that one out) I stayed at the Mayflower Hotel which is literally a few blocks from the White house, in a very nice suite for $80/night where normally is was three times that amount.

If your willing to be flexible you get much better bang for the buck.

I know you are asking escorts this question, but from a client's point of view I prefer nice hotels. I've canceled appointments when I found out the particulars of certain hotels. I've also booked several consecutive sessions when learning the location was also going to be a treat. Just my 2 cents.

I have to agree with Mark450. I am very reluctant to go to any hotel that does not meet the standards where I stay on my own. If my companion is coming to me, then I want to make a good impression too, and I would think my companion would want to do the same. That does not mean the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons, but I have cancelled some tentative appointments when I found out where we would be meeting. Just my 2 cents too.

I travel a lot for work and usually it's the Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons or St. Regis. Yes, they are nice hotels. And, when I didn't own my own place I used to really look forward to staying in those nice hotels. Those suites are usually bigger than most studio apartments in nyc!! Now that I have my own lovely place i hate staying in any hotel. If I pay on my own, it's usually the Westin or W.

I guess I'm coming at this issue from a very different place....I have met escorts in very nice hotels and some in bare-basics motels....Being into kink and BDSM stuff, I have been hoping one of these days, to meet in an abandoned building kind of place and fool around in a dusty, dirty, hell hole....not for everyone I will admit but my fantasies do not seem to revolve around "someday my prince will come" imagery. Perhaps Tyger or Raul could arrange something nasty for me on their next visit.

Of course there are those escorts who would expectedly book into the nicer places...that's fine too.

I've been using hotwire.com when I travel. For the most part you can find pretty nice hotels for relatively inexpensive. For example, when I go to DC at the beginning of April I am staying in a 4.5 star hotel in Dupont Circle that I was able to get for about $100 a night...under 1/3 of the original price. As Daddy said, as long as you are OK with not knowing exactly what hotel you will get, then something like hotwire is a great option. As long as you get a hotel that is 3.5 star or above, I don't think anyone would run into problems of a client not being satisfied with the accomodations.

I have to agree with DD and Mark450. I normally stay at 3.5 and up myself and and would like to see the escorts in the same. When I host one of them, I'm certainly in that level. To me, it's almost a matter of respect and decency. And comfort. As Ryaan said, I've used hotwire and priceline with a great deal of success. I've gotten 3.5 and 4 star hotels for as low as $45/night, depending on the area and any events going on at the time.

Agreed with all the others, it shows respect and professionalism to stay at a 3 star or up.

There is a great website: http://www.biddingfortravel.com. It is a forum for people to post their winning Priceline bids. Just a quick scroll through the listings will reveal patterns, so you'll get a sense of what you have to bid for a given city and hotel class. And where did I hear about this website? This very forum, from a once-frequent poster named Devon-SF.

For example, the last two trips I've made to see a client in San Diego, the first time I stayed at the 4-star Westgate Hotel downtown for $65. Then this past Friday it was $92 for the Westin downtown. For Priceline, $92 is a high price but this appeared to be a busy weekend so I had to keep raising the bid. But the room was fantastic, 18th floor with a sweeping view of the harbor. When I first booked the original stay at the Westgate the client responded that he was pleased, it was his first time with an escort and he was afraid we'd be meeting at a Motel 6. And now he's a repeat client, so it is indeed important.

Priceline is not fail-safe... it's not so much the risk of getting a dud as it is not getting anything at all. There have been a few times where I was never able to get a bid accepted and had to switch to Hotwire. Also Priceline does not cover many rural areas. But 95% of the time it works, and definitely makes the appointment both enjoyable and viable.

When I'm booking for a night with an escort, I always look for a place that I would enjoy entertaining in. There are a lot of mid priced options that provide excellent accomodations and are fun too. I love staying in Aloft, the W mid market hotel - they have awsome flat screen hookups if you want to play dvds and they have walk in showers big enough for two and some fun stuff with Bliss spa amenities. The Hyatt Place has a great seperate "living area" with a nice pit style sofa that is fun to play on and some have walk in showers as well. In Dallas, there is a new local chain called NYLO which is awsome and upscale for a very reasonable price. Of course I love the 4 and 5 stars too, recently stayed at Sanctuary on Camelback in Phoenix and I thought it would be awesome to sit on the private patio after the first round and get blown by my rentman, I love the Four Seasons in Vegas or the Ritz in Naples, FL, but unless someone else is footing the bill - I'm in a nice mid level place. After all, that just sets the stage, the rest is about connecting with the man in your bed and making something out of it.

Whenever I have an appointment with a visiting escort, I ask him to come to me so going to a hotel to meet someone is not a big issue. If however, it was necessary I would hope the hotel would be 3.5, or up. Met a guy at the red roof inn, here in st. louis once. The appointment was ho hum at best, and the room was indeed a contributing factor.

I always tend to stay in "upscale" hotels if you will. Why? Mine are more long-term appointments and "initial impressions" always count and you can never re-do those. This will hopefully (in combination with the time we spend together) help people to understand what kind of a person I am and hopefully they'll see me a second time as well.

Really? So what impression are clients getting right now at this moment seeing you are located in a vending machine? ;)

On a serious note, I have to disagree. It's a hotel. What type of hotel you stay in is not (always) an indicator of what type of person you are. I've said it before, but some of my highest paid appointments went down in less than 3 star hotels.

I also assume it depends on where you are located (like everything else in life). Some people mentioned Philly, Washington D.C....I would not chance it in those type of cities with anything less than a Holiday Inn Express (which are actually pretty nice 2.5 star places.) Those cities have higher crime rates across the board and therefore, hotels less than a certain star level have a tendency to be less than desirable. Whereas, smaller towns away from the east coast tend to have more attractive options for less.

I am very aware of HotWire and PriceLine. That's the only thing I use. But still, the price can still add up when you're getting a 3.5 star or more. Generally speaking, the higher the star level, the less you get.

I've stayed at the Renaissance, Mariott...all those places. But I guess I got tired of spending $20 on breakfast every morning. I don't know, I guess I can be a bit on the frugal side...but again, unlike other jobs...all this is coming out of my pocket. That's why I wish there were special hotel discounts, better than what any 3rd party site can give to us...specifically available for escorts. What an imagination...

After reading the replies, I decided to go back to the basics and go for a 3 star property and got the Radisson. Wow...must be one of the best Radissons I've ever stayed at, I think the Radisson across the street from Disney World Orlando was pretty nice too but damn that was years ago I can hardly remember. I can totally understand why some would choose the higher star levels. Unfortunently it is missing the fridge and microwave, but there's free gym membership next door. I've got 2 hours to go...Ciao!

Mocha, like Daddy, I have also stayed at the Mayflower in Washington (I just spoke about it in another thread without naming it) - Big hotels often have very low rates on weekends because of little business people being there. But if I were you I would try places like Residence Inn by Marriott. They seem to be in every big city - have top of the line kitchens and a variety of suites (studio, 1 or 2 bedrooms) - I have visited them and they seem nice - never stayed there however. Anyhow, good luck.

I very much like Residence Inn by Marriott. I like to cook my own food, after traveling around the world for 25 or more years and eating out all that time. They have high speed internet, an included breakfast of hot and other food, lots of space in the room + the kitchen with refrigerator, microwave oven, etc. They aren't perfect, but, who is? A good deal or so it seems to me.

Best regards,

KMEM

And, they have a "happy hour" of cheap beer and wine + bar food every week day. I have not used this feature but it is there. :)

Oh~ So happy you wrote this... Come to Portland and I will take you on a Sex Camp journey... nasty, BDSM play out in the woods. I've been conducting hot Man Camp sessions for years now and have several places I like to play with willing subs... once I had one of my boys saran wrapped to a tree on a cliff with caths and sounds in his dick and wearing a gas mask while I took pictures and smoked a cigar and stroked both our dicks. Great fun~!!!! Another time I suspended a guy from a tree... also had a guy staked to the ground, with a rope around his cock and balls... the other end was a bag I gradually filled with river rocks suspended from a tree branch. I used over one hundred clothes pins on him and he got a good stretch~

I can arrange some dirty factory play in several places in various states. I keep it private though... for obvious reasons...

I'll be one of the squirrels who jumps out in defense of being economical (as an escort).

I don't charge an arm and a leg for my time, and oftentimes I eat expenses my friends tell me I shouldn't. I have no problem staying where I want to stay--and though I'm not scrubbing the bottom of the barrel and staying at ancient Red Roof Inns or La Quintas remodeled six times over, I'm also not staying at the latest ritzy Embassy Suites-esque property.

At times I have tried using hotwire and such, and yes, I have gotten great rates. But on numerous occasions with these sites, when using the "name your own price" option, I ended up sacrificing the important element of location whenever it located the best rate and automatically booked me via their terms. In Atlanta and Denver both I ended up losing commitments because of location (seems like a tradeoff, huh?).

Caveat: this brief anecdote is not meant to offend any patrons, nor is it meant to be confrontational.

I have only had one of my clients ever bicker with me about where I stay. He did so before we got together, and then he continued to do so during his time with me.

Not only did he, in doing so, further develop his extremely arrogant, condescending, and snobbish air that amassed during our get-together, but he also ended up killing any chemistry or interest I had in spending that or any further time with him.

Though I was all smiles (and struggling to maintain my patience in light of his boarish behavior), I frankly couldn't have been happier when he left.

The lesson I learned: if someone is going to let where I am staying (when on my dime) dictate whether he wants to see me, odds are high that our personalities and chemistries may very well be a miss.

My experience and my two cents.

Cheers

Bingo! Good response. So true on the loyalty comment. I cannot remember the last time I paid for breakfast or the Internet due to my elite status at hotel chains. I always book directly via the Starwood, Hilton, or Marriott websites. If you have a AAA card, you can often get an extra discount off the nightly rate. Sometimes it's only $5-$10 discount... But other times it is more.

I think that their 'Lounge' is on the Concierge floors of the hotel. You either get there by gaining elite status or by buying Concierge level rooms.

Another good thing about Concierge level is room servicing can be done quickly because there's an attendant on the floor, so extra towels, emergency change of sheets, etc, is quite simple. Also, you can have them bring you items from outside the hotel, or from the bar (at a fee) so you don't have to do it. Don't like the booze in the mini-bar, order a bottle of what you like from the hotel's bar, with glasses and setups.
