Do You "Youtube"?

What are the reasons that more escorts don't provide a short, elegant (non-pornographic) introductory video of themselves on Youtube, a link to which could be provided within their ads or reviews published online elsewhere? This would be so helpful.

I think its most likely because allot of escorts want to be discreet and you tube has a wider audience anyone could see it

Understand, but I'm still befuddled. "Rentboy" and most of the massage sites are openly public. The entire internet is in most respects openly public. The marketing notion here is that a provider could upload a Youtube and link from their site. In most respects, that Youtube video is not that easily "findable" or public unless one adds a tag (description) providing more specifics (i.e., don't ad a tag like "male escort" unless you want lots of people to find your uploaded video based on that description).

 

Could more guys add additional comments, or indicate if this isn't as accurate as I think?

They probably don't provide elegant videos because Bobby Short is no longer around to sit at his grand piano, providing a jazzy backing track. Plus, opera gloves and mink stoles just aren't a part of most escorts' wardrobes.

This might be a good question for GTX on the other thread "Escort Marketing." My initial thought is that if not done well, the video would be a negative rather than an enhancement to the ad.

I agree. Plus with youtube the video could go viral very quickly, as opposed to the more confined boundaries of a rentboy ad.

This is an interesting question. First, artful interesting videos are not easy to do and typically reqire some post production studio time to really make them have that professional feel. Beyond that, I think a short introduction or interview type video, even unprofessionally shot or edited could be interesting. One problem is that most of us are not professional actors and have trouble in front of a camera without a script, and even with a script, it can take several "takes" to get a good one. Basically it's a lot of effort.

 

Regarding the Rentboy videos, most of what I've seen is either hard core pounding or bad jacking. If that's what I want to see I'll just go to my porn library!

 

I would be very interested if any of the escorts have done a video - send me your link, I would love to see it.

These are excellent points. I also encourage a few escorts to give this a shot, and

to contact you.

 

If anyone already haa a website showing their face and identity--as long as there weren't other considerations of confidentiality- it is hard to see the downside of "going viral." That would sound kind of successful.

 

I recall now that one NYC escort had several Youtube videos. I didn't ever see him, and he seemed like nice fellow, but oh, they were so dreadful. They missed some of the caveats raised by GTX. There was no script, and no conversation. Just himself sitting in front of a camera with some rock music playing.

 

To his credit, he promoted these by sending out links to an email list he maintained of potential or actual clients who contacted him in the past. Amongst the more advanced GTX recommendations, hopefully suggestions about "email harvesting"

for such proposes ("how to do this") might be considered.
