A few days ago, I asked for a gallery password from a "Rentboy" escort. He kindly provided this.

I didn't think he & myself would make a good connection.

However, today, he sent me an email saying he was free.

I thought this was GREAT. I never received an email like this

before from an escort. There was nothing implying any

"solicitation" of any kind--just a note saying he had free time.

I couldn't make any time commitments, but I certainly enjoyed

being asked.

It is not difficult to maintain an "email" mailing list. Practically

every email system allows you to create your own "group" to which you can send a small bulk mailing.

Is this a bad idea for escorts in these difficult economic

times?

I've had this happen to me. If I didn't respond, I usually got 2-3 emails within a week and then no more - I guess these guys saw me for the lurker I was. When I did respond, I said something like, "Free or Available?"... Then I would explain why I hadn't booked an appointment, or I've told DEVON HUNTER to put me on his list for when he's traveling the West Coast!

I think you are too hard on yourself. You are not a lurker--you're selective.

In the magazine business, it can take up to 10 - 12 renewal notices before

some people "bite." It wouldn't be unfair to say that after 10 - 12 emails,

a "selective person" might be more interested. At the very least, it is good

public relations.

I'm speaking out-of-turn, of course, but comments/critiques would be welcomed.

I think most email programs allow you to build up a mail group of about 50 people;

above that, you'd need an outside program for a large mailing list.

Other e-businesses cerrtainly do this. Most will give you an "opt-out" option,

which I think is part of e-mailing etiquette as well.

Best wishes,

If it's tactfully presented, and the frequency of the emails is not too high, I think it's a GREAT marketing tool. I am surprised that so few escorts use it, it costs next to nothing. I appreciate receiving a message basically saying something like 'hey I was thinking of the great time we had together. You're on my VIP list and wanted to let you know that I have a light schedule this week. Let me know if you're in the mood' Or something like that. I think it's a nice courtesy.

With your looks, I am sure you are on many people's VIP list! :)

When either visiting another city or when casually shopping around here in NYC, if I have done a bit of research on a guy (such as seeking the password to to see his private page at RENTBOY or have a guy on RENTMEN see that I have checked him out), I might get a brief personal note such as, "Saw you had an interest, and wanted to let you know I am free on such and such a day or time".

One escort, Jon Ramsey, who I did briefly meet (and he is truly more handsome than his photos) but the date had to be cancelled (whicih was my fault, not his at all), has been exceptionally kind to let me know when he is in my area in case we want to make up the lost date. I only feel embarrassed that each time he has been so thoughtful, I am either out of town that week(end) or already committed with friends and cannot get away (Jon, if you read this, do NOT give up - a date will happen in 2011!!!). A few others, such as Devon Hunter, Mark Gordon and Romann to name a few, also show the same kindness and consideration, which I think is both a smart marketing tool as well as a way to concretely show they are not your usual escort, but something more... something positively worth investing in.

My 'regular' guy occasionally sends me an email suggesting a steamy get-together. If I decline (for whatever reason), he leaves it to me to initiate the next session. Since there is nothing 'pushy' about it, I'm fine with that.

The addiitonal caeveat I would add for an escort is - make sure no client can see another's email address. I've had a few instances with novices who, when I asked for pictures, forwarded me an email in which they had sent pictures to someone else , with that person's email still visible. :(
