Great question! I'd really like to know the answer myself. I know that I have seen a lot of porn stars on facebook, but the only sort of advertisement they seem to do is to pose professional pictures of themselves, "fan" porn related groups, and ad other attractive guys on their page.

Personally, I keep my facebook personal. I did, however, create a myspace for business purposes but have not done much with it. If you guys think that it would be a good idea to pursue and upkeep a myspace page, I would definitely be open to continue updating it.

A few well known escorts have facebook pages, but I'd never be friends with them because I wouldn't want my friends to know it. I wish they would edit their personal information so it doesn't make it so obvious they are escorts. I had one escort "friend" me on facebook, and I considered it a compliment. His page is a personal FB page though.

It is very hard to remain discreet on FaceBook. An escort whom I see on a regular basis once asked me if he could friend me on FB. He said that he kept his page private and did not list anything inappropriate or say that he was an escort. Although I was flattered, I told him that I'd rather not. Here's why: Lets say this escort and I are FB friends, no matter how private he and I make our FB settings, others will still be able to see that we are friends. Now let's say that the escort FB friends another client who happens to be a real life friend, colleague, or even acquaintance of mine. That client, who is a real life friend of mine, will see that I am also a FB friend with this escort. I might have some pretty dumb (but lovable) friends, but I think even they could put 2 + 2 together.

I thought I was the LAST holdout on this!....lol

I'm not on Facebook in either career..I agree that as far as escorting goes, it only complicates things.

Also, do I REALLY want everyone to know where I am & what I'm doing?

I'm not an escort, but here's my thought: even if you're not the type of guy who uses face-less pics in your ads or don't mind that certain people know about your escorting, it may be safely assumed that some of your clients/potential clients will want discretion. Discretion and Facebook do not go together. Many guys who hire are not the type who will appreciate that kind of publicity. Maybe they are married or have some high profile position in the community and can be easily recognized. I don't trust FB, for the reasons they've recently been scandalized and criticized and more. You just never know where the information you post on there will end up or who is really on there posing as friends just to collect information. I also don't understand how FB would help an escort's career since what it would basically do is allow your clients to maybe figure out who your other clients are. I'm not so sure thats something many clients would be comfortable with.

I would never consider having a professional account on FB. I only had a private account for a few months before deleting it. What I discovered during that time was that:

1) It is a major headache trying to juggle your privacy settings & the content you put out there such that you present the desired image of yourself to the disparate types of people in & coming in to your life.

2) It is not always a blessing when an old friend finds you. Lesson learned.

I like a few others do not have an escort type profile on the facebook. I do have a personal one and where I am friends with a couple other working guys. Although I do share some personal information either face to face or here on the mc with clients and potential clients I do like to have some separation of my personal and work life, no matter how thin the vail is. And that goes for my family as well even though I can care less what they know. I know I've said some things that they do not approve of but they are my views and opinions.

Hugs,

Greg

I was a long time hold out to join Facebook and only did so when my high school class had set up a facebook page since we were all turning a certain age...ah never reveal the actual age!!!

I was amazed at how many people wanted me to "friend them"....some I knew, some I had never heard of. I was also amazed at how many times a virus was sent via Facebook.

What convinced me to drop the who Facebook thing was two-fold

#1. It crossed too many boundaries for me with my private life, personal life and business life.

#2. Secondly, it bored the shit out of me after awhile and became a nuisance to keep responding, updating etc.

So....I joined, I wrote, I became bored and I finally quit
