Hi all

I'm Tetsu, an escort man in Japan.

I have a question to escort men.

How much do you earn yearly?

I was asked it by a client and answered 15,000 dollars.

I thought I'm earning pretty well, but he told me it is NOT so much.

He said that the escort man he had hired before was earning about

100,000 pounds a year in London!

So here is a question.

How much do you earn yearly?

This may be a tough question to answer, so I give you some choices.

1. under 10,000 dollars

2. 10,000 ~ 25,000 dollars

3. 25,000 ~ 50,000 dollars

4. 50,000 ~ 75,000 dollars

5. 75,000 ~ 100,000 dollars

6. over 100,000 dollars

Thank you for reading!

I'm not sure about this question. I may be wrong, but I don't see escorting as a occupation that has that much longevity* and most guys i see are usually students who do this for extra money. After all, NYU or Columbia is so expensive that most money from their folks/loans go to tuition.

So for the students, it's really subject to their schedule and how much time they want to delve into it. One escort in nyc I know casually says he can make 1000-2000 a weekend if he were to keep extremely busy. He's kept busy with a few regulars now but not making nowhere near there, but then again he's not really advertising and doesn't want to.

As for japan, 15,000 doesn't go too far. My best friend's apt in downtown tokyo rents for 10,000 US a month. I guess he would have to suck a lot of dick to pay that rent!

*As for longevity in escorting, I'm qualifying this with the exception of a few reviewed well-seasoned escorts on this board (you know who you are) who seem to have made a good balance of their life and work, have a steady roster of clients, and apparently do quite well with their charms and physical attributes (despite the law of gravity!).

Can you live with 15,000 dollars for a year in Japan? A bowl of rice noodle cost me 12 dollars recently!

I'm currently in Paris and as everyone knows French do not like to talk about money and how much they earn. It's a taboo over here. Different cultures - different customs and practices.

This has been said if you're smart, good at what you do and have some "businessman" skills you can do pretty well and make a good living out of escorting. I'm unaware of the market in Japan, but Tokyo is on my list.

Keep up the good work !

I totally agree with you Steven. I don't think that success is based on a monitary value at all times Tetsu, although this line of work will always have a dollar figure attached, I feel if you are satified in what you provide your cleints, have a healthy regular clientele following, and provide the best service possible... you are a success at what you do and it will only be a matter of time that your bank account will reflect. Quality is quality and if you are giving it, you'll know when the day is wrapped up. The best to you Tetsu

This is a question which you are unlikely to get a straight answer to from an escort in private, much less in a public forum. No one wants to be seen to be struggling, or doing worse than their peers. Most people cannot imagine why anyone would escort unless they were desperate or making a lot of money, so escorts will tend to exaggerate their earnings. The truth is most are just making some extra cash, quite a few are doing well enough to support a comfortable lifestyle and a very few strike gold.

Related to this thread: at least in the USA, if escort income is, uh, unofficial...does everyone become ineligible for social security benefits and Medicare/Medicade much later on in life? That would be awful. Or do older escorts change professions so that they don't lose that economic and health care safety net?

Self-employed income is subject to FICA (social security) and Medicare tax just like any other. Worse, in fact, because the individual pays both halves of the social security taxes-- the employee contribution as well as the employer contribution, on the first ~$107,000 in income. (Most regular employees see 7.65% of their wages taxed for social security but don't realize that their employers are also contributing an equal amount.)

If the fellow's sole income is from escorting and he chooses not to declare any or much of it, presumably he has made other plans to take care of his financial needs in the future.

Income and net worth are pretty much taboo subjects in the US as well. I would never ask someone his income or tell mine. And, I notice that no other escort here has actually disclosed his income.

It is a matter of privacy.

Exactly...so even if someone was to give an answer, one has no idea if thats the truth or not. Unless you're the accountant, you'll never know. I think the closest one is ever going to know how much we make is by the rates listed on our ads...

I used to work in a sales job and there would be so much animosity and will to compete, that guys would actually steal leads out of my files and attempt to sell to my clients in order to make a sale. And at the end of the week, people would boast about making $1,500 paychecks while other people would make only half of that amount, the ones who were hourly only made about $150.

So in a job like this its even more important to stay discrete about it.

Mark,

I totally agree with your response. Unless an escort likes to brag and is actually making a huge amount of money, I don't see why any escort would want to share what they make. With the economy the way it is, I've been very lucky and have done ok. However, I'm not getting rich of escorting, though escorting just happens to be the most exciting job I've ever had

Snake28 your mother is very courteous.. In asia people ask these three questions a lot.. Instead of asking how old you are they ask what year you were born. When I was traveling asia I got asked how old I was countless times. I have a chinese female friend who once directly told me that I gained weight without any filtering(I won't write here exactly what she said. I told an american about it and he thought it was funny though since he had a similar experience). That was her way of asking how I was doing. I laughed it off. What Tetsu did was pretty normal in his cultural background but I do agree it is a kind of a sensitive issue.

My mama always told me there are three questions you never ask: How old are you, how much do you weigh, and how much do you make...
