While I could adore the man. I have a great deal of trouble responding... ahem... to certain looks. So while you are correct I would risk it in the case of Juan. That is an extremely rare situation which even still could be beyond my control to remedy.

But I also realize that is one difference between us. I am, I think more easy to over look certain physical issue in exchange for the mental -- the sexuality, the sensuality, the "je ne sais croix" as it were. I have to be more forgiving since I do so closely resemeble Jo-Jo the dog faced monkey boy -- I mean it's only fair. But as I've said here many times, the sexiest part of a man to me is between his ears, not between his legs. And I realiize that there is no "right" answer -- it is strictly an individual taste. And I am with you on most hires -- I need to see the face. But the rep of someone built up over years tells me more as to whether I will be pleased with the services. But that's just me.

Leigh.bess.toad, i loved what you wrote, man - although you wouldnt be the first to hire me after seeing what i look like. although i dont hang out in bars to hustle up business, i AM very out about what i do when i meet people. i answer that asked-too-early-in-the-conversation question, "what do you do?" with "i'm an escort" - and there have been more than a few times that it's led to the person hiring me!

 

just to set the record straight, that's NOT the reason why i tell people. i tell them because i believe my job is helpful to people, i'm proud of it, and i love doing it.

interesting comment. i’ve been trying to show that things aren’t always black and white, and in the case of me escorting, i stand by that. for me, not showing a face pic is NOT because i’m concerned about leading a double life. i think i’ve got that down pretty well. it’s because of the narrow view held by some folks in this country, who have continued to keep sex work illegal. perhaps when that changes - when escorts have the same legal rights, cultural acceptance, safety, and benefits as other professions in this country - and one wouldn’t jeopardize custody of one’s children - you’ll see my mug on my profile.

Its possible, but I doubt it. I've seen face-less ads on the rentboy site that say the same thing..."the face matches the body." Maybe he's telling the truth about that. Or, maybe he's just not all that great looking and knows it, and he's hoping that the clients will be too horned up to care. Maybe he's married or has another career and needs to be discrete. Maybe he's new to the business and just paranoid about being found out---especially if he's the gay for pay only straight boy type.

 

As a client would you hire this guy... My thought is: What is he hiding... If I ever retire and start hiring I would demand a face pic especially for $250 an hour.

 

Probably not. I am new to this business of hiring. In fact, I haven't actually hired anyone yet. But if and when I do, I would be much more inclined to hire somebody with a face pic. For me, the dude doesn't have to be extremely pretty or totally buffed out. But, if I'm going to spend several hundred dollars for a few hours of fun I'd like to at least see who I'm dealing with before making the deal. Not that pics always tell the whole story because sometimes they're either old or photoshopped, but still...

 

I found the link to this forum and the rentboy website after reading some pretty interesting criticisms of the escorting trade on another forum. Many of the guys over on that other forum are of the opinion that only older, no-so-attractive, overweight, desperately lonely men would pay for sex. There were a couple of self-proclaimed escorts in that thread who seemed to believe this also. Perhaps some of the escorts who refuse to advertise with face pics feel the same way...if a client wants sex bad enough they will hire them whether they have a face pic or not, and if a face-less ad isn't acceptable then too bad, they can move on and hire somebody else because there will always be another horny John coming along. I guess many of these guys with face-less pics DO get hired at least fairly regularly because they've been escorting for a while and their ads are still face-less.

 

Well, I'm not old, overweight, ugly, or desperate, lol. My decision to hire is because its convenient.There's a specific type of dude that I like to play with and the dude has to have a certain look to do it for me, so i'd like to see a face pic. But doesn't it go both ways? I mean, aren't there escorts who ask for a description or a pic of the client before they take the gig? If not, what happens in the escort shows up at the door and you both do nothing for one another? Do you, the client, simply not open the door when the dude knocks, after checking him out through the peep hole and deciding that you're not interested? Do you the escort, check the client out after he opens the door and say 'look man, this isn't gonna work' if you don't like the way he looks, and then leave? Risky business, this!
