RED LIGHT REVUE

609 W. 29th St. between 11th & 12th Avenues

NYC

Wednesday nights only.

Doors open 5pm

Happy hour 5pm-7pm

I attended opening night of the Red Light Revue not knowing what to expect. Well, after spending several hours there, I was impressed with what I saw and I look forward to returning again.

If you were to ask me how to design the floor plan for a male strip club, the Red Light Revue is what I would have come up with.

The Club, aka Amnesia, is completely renovated and large with 4 floors. You enter into a good size dance floor with a modern bar to the left and sofa seating on the other sides of the dance floor.

On the 2nd floor (loft) you have a good size raised center stage (which can be seen from all floors and all sides, I really liked it), a 2nd large bar in the rear, and a dimly lit lap dance area around the back of the stage. Many private love seat areas to choose from and only patrons who are doing lap dances are permitted to enter this area.

The 3rd floor is for private dances. The area is closed off with curtains and the room has several sofas set up so no one is facing the other person. It's not private rooms.

The lower level is where the rest rooms are located. New, modern, spotless, large, and all done in marble. Wait till you see these shell shaped sinks with a waterfall flowing out. The handsome attendant will even squirt soap into your hands and give you a towel to dry off. ;) And, don't forget your breath mint when leaving.

It's really a well designed and nicely decorated club. One of the nicest strip clubs I've been to in a long time.

There were about 15 dancers, some I recognized from the 20 Club and a few were new to me. Two of my favorites were newcomers Lukas and Olay. Both have slender builds and gave excellent lap dances. However, if your taste is more muscular, there were several candidates to fit that bill. Nice range of dancers.

Each dancer performs to 2 songs. First: dressed, Second: strips down to his briefs. There was no full frontal nudity.

The club is professionally run. Doormen and managers all dressed in designer suits and ties. Bathroom attendant also dressed in a suit and lots of very handsome/friendly bartenders.

Since it was opening night and a Jewish holiday, attendance was light, however, once you give this club a look, you'll be coming back for more.

In addition to the stage show, there were shower shows and blue screen shows. Dancers would perform nude behind a screen showing the shadows of their nude bodies. Nice addition but not in a good location.

This club has a lot of potential and a management that listens. Managers were walking around talking to the customers and asking if we were having a good time. Even complimentary drinks were provided.

Costs:

Cover: $25

Lap Dancers: $20 per song

VIP Room: $175 for 30 minutes

Drinks: Beer $5 and mixed drinks $8... 2-4-1 before 7pm

NYC now has 3 male strip clubs to choose from. What I like about this new club is that they plan on enlisting dancers who will only work at Red Light Revue. IMO, seeing the same dancers working from the 20 Club or the Adonis Lounge, can discourage patrons from attending the different clubs. Having your own, exclusive lineup, can encourage patrons to try the different clubs.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks Cooper for the thorough review - glad to hear that there is another venue in our midst. I'm also glad that they plan to recruit some new talent in addition to the familiar faces. This Wednesday night only club will hopefully be around long enough to give a new meaning to the term "HUMP day".

Agree with Coop's assessment of everything. I especially liked the lap dance area being quiet and remote from the main scene. The dancers I took there seemed to feel, shall we say, very comfortable with the relative privacy of it. I know I did. :)

Hey Cooper I was told to thank you for your kind words, and to let you know that what you do is deeply appreciated ! Also I was told to make mention that the drinks are half price from 5 - 7 pm and that the owner has lowered the Champagne rooms from 175.00 to 160.00 for 20 minutes, we do hope to see many of you this wednesday evening.

9.15.10 Red Light Revue Lineup

It's been a long time since I posted a lineup but this one is well worth the wait. Some of the names sound like old Gaiety dancers. Sadly, they're not the same. They ranged from twink to muscle. Lots of new dancers. Some of their pictures can be found on the "Men from Adonis" thread.

1. Gavin (muscular build /returning to dancing)

2. NV (new, featured dancer)

3. Rony (new/ solid build/very popular)

4. Tanner (new)

5. Spencer (new/muscular/from Swinging Richards)

6. Alex (Romanian/great lap dance)

7. Elberti (lots of tats/solid build)

8. Malik (new)

9. Ricardo (twink)

10. TJ (new)

11. Dirty Jersey (he's got it all)

12. Tyler (new/twink)

13. Sterling (tall/slender)

It was a great evening. Lots of dancers for every taste. Very interactive and friendly dancers. Was nice meeting Malik, Alex (so hot), Sterling (he's a walking wet dream), TJ (extremely attractive, tall, friendly and had great hands), and another muscle guy (i think it was Rony). Sadly, it seemed there were more dancers than customers. Hopefully that will change as more people realize what a great place this is.

I didn't realize that lapdances were fully clothed (i've only had lapdances in Montreal...) so it was a little unusual. I wonder what the champagne room would be like... will have to explore and find out next week!

Sadly, a disappointing evening for me. $25 cover charge and $16 drinks did not help the lackluster mood of this club yesterday evening, not to mention the out-of-the-way 29th St/12th Avenue westside location. Don't get me wrong, the dancers did their best to entertain, and many of the guys stopped by to chat (really nice guys!!). I enjoyed the blue screen dancers and the showers, but these poor guys were making no money last night. A handful of customers did their best to accomodate but when I left the club it was virtually empty. There were probably only 20 customers the whole time I was there, from 7PM to after 10PM. Poor dancers! With the $100 fee to work there for the evening and transportation costs ( one young man came all the way up from Philly!) they were deep into the red by evenings end. As a new venue, the management should be offereing all kinds of specials to build a clientele and a base of dancers. It will be interesting to see how long this venue goes on. It was great to see several members of this list there last night and I enjoyed their company.

I had to laugh, the ad for the club says "OVER 40 Dancers..." For a moment I thought to myself, hmmm, are these dancers who are over 40 years of age? Sadly as per Cooper's list, 13 does not equal 40!

Sad but true apparently a contract means nothing these days! It takes weeks for a party to take off! and things were heading in the right direction with great feed back from those on this board and from those attending the wednesday night event ! but unfortunately the club owners wanted a five thousand guranteed for the bar ! and so they pulled the plug and broke a legal agreement of a eight to ten week commitment.

Agree 1000%. The dancers had the greatest attitude (not to mention other attributes!). Again this past Wednesday, like last week, I had some of the best lap dances ever there.

Word at the dancer union hall today is that the party is moving to "Esquilita", close to times square.

September 29 might be a good night to keep your schedules clear.

Ah ha! That would explain the Escuelita manager/owners presence at the Red Light revue on Wednesday evening...sounds like somethings up!

The Show Must Go On!

Jay, that's why the club is called "Amnesia"! Did we say eight to ten weeks? OH, I guess we just forgot.

However, on a positive note, when one door closes another door opens. Glad to hear that Red Light Revue will be moving locations. Esquilita's is an established club and in a great location. Easy to get there from Penn Sta, Port Authority, or subway.

I hope to hear soon if it's a go for Wednesday, Sept. 29th.
