I believe I've just wasted $35.00 on Adam4Adam.com because I haven't received any serious clients off of that website. Does anyone have any tips for receiving calls and is craigslist.org a good place to post an ad even though it's well known for like sting operations and things? Thank you guys.

The answer to your question will depend a great deal on your location. What works well in Manhattan won't necessarily work well in Cedar Rapids and vice versa. If you can tell us a bit more about yourself, including your general location, we can provide you with better answers to your questions. :)

Thanks for the reply boston guy. Well I'm in Baltimore, Maryland. I'm african american&vietnemese. I was wondering if men4rent.com was the way to go, I'm just a little confused because Adam4adam hasn't gotten me any "serious" clients. ;)

Escorts can give you a more definitive answer, but as a client I can tell you that my first stops when looking to hire an escort are rentmen and rentboy.

Thanks alot man! I've never heard of rentmen! ;)

Diversify your marketing.

Hello and welcome to the forum fellow Professional-

Adam4adam.com isn't a very good site in my opinion because it's primary function is to allow men to hook up for free. Having said that, I have a lot of progress and 97% of my clients come from m4rn.com, rentmen.com as 2nd place and of course, my least favorite and most unreliable is rentboy.com which brings in very little business for me and I'm actually considering canceling that account. I run weekly reports based on where client requests come from and m4rn.com is by far the best and the biggest for the Midwest region. Rentboy only does well in the North East, typically NYC but holds very little coverage elsewhere.

The key is to diversify your ads in various places but be consistent with your wording, picture selection and overall format. The cost for the websites (excluding worthless Rentboy.com) is well worth it and you'll see your client base and requests grow. Let me know via email if you have any other questions and I will be more than happy to share what I know and have learned over the last two years.

I think you meant to ask about men4rentnow.com, and I can tell you that you'll get some leads but likely find the site frustrating.

Rentboy is the granddaddy of escort sites. Advertising there costs a bit, but you should earn it back quickly. I'm just wrapping up a busy trip to DC (not far from Baltimore) and rentboy by far generated the most business for me.

There's also rentmen.com which puts forth a great effort but just doesn't seem to generate that much biz, at least for me.

I'd shy away from craigslist. Others will know better than I, but I think it's heavily patrolled to weed out escorting ads and (personal opinion) smacks of low rent.

Welcome to the site and to the biz. This forum is a great place to come with questions, or feel free to send me a message if you think I could help.

Just a quick note about adam4adam.com: they require a signup to see anything. I don't sign up to view advertising.

I don't need to sign up to see what's on offer at sears.com, homedepot.com, lowes.com, amazon.com, or any other shopping site. I won't sign up at adam4adam.com either. The LAST thing I need is yet another site sending me spam advertising.

I do not need to sign up for an account at rentboy.com, rentmen.com, or men4rentnow.com in order to view the advertising.

The Baltimore/DC market is a tough nut to crack. Few succeed there, but it has been done. Good luck!

I think between kevin and romann you are seeing the difference in east coast versus midwest. we east coasters love our rentboy. midwesterners seem to focus on men4rentnow. so consider where you are and where your traveling too to sell you in that market

But to build on Romann's post, diversify. Try 'em both and see which works for you; ideally they both will. (In fact rentboy represents 51% of my revenue and men4rnentow comes in a distant second at 11%.) But what works for you is far more important than what works for Romann and me.

And to build on Tomcat's post, do consider traveling. A fresh, err, face in NYC often gets a lot of attention. I worked fairly well out of SF for a few years before I discovered that traveling for work is a great way to bump up the pay and meet a lot of great new people as well.

Hope you get a chance to use all this good advice coming at you.

Thanks alot, I have an old ad on rentboy that needs to be updated but it never generated any business. Guess I'll update it and try again! Thanks Kevin!

Anytime!

You're very welcome and never be affraid to ask. You will find that many escorts are very willing to help others out, answer questions and share the knowledge that we all gained from someone else at some point. Everyone starts at square 1 and you'll quickly grow especially if you maintain your posts here, smile, get some pictures up, ad links and a nice avatar goes a long way.

Again, welcome to the forum and to the business. It's a great time to be one of us!

Adam4Adam is probably one of the last places I would look for hiring (on par with Craigslist). I honestly just have a very negative feeling about the quality of escorts that list there. May be unfair since I have never hired from that site but the first time I was aware of the section on Pros offering services and looked into it, I had such a poor experience with communicating with the guys advertising there that I gave up. I pretty much consider Adam4Adam a place for quick hookups and guys who are not all that serious about being professional or developing a clientele. Deciding what kind of service you want to provide and the type of client you believe would be interested in hiring you will help determine where to advertise.

You mentioned that you have an ad on Rentboy (my site of choice when searching for serious and professional escorts) but that it has not generated much business for you. Based on what you had written about being out of Baltimore and mixed (Black and Asian), I am guessing your ad on Rentboy is:

http://www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=232153&scid=42122766&sp=1&pos=3&locid=1501&iid=106984

If this is not you, then apologies but it seems to fit what you have said.

You mention you are considering updating it and giving Rentboy another try. I think that is a good idea and here is a critique of the existing ad from a client's perspective that is intended to give you some ideas on what to work on (which is more than updating and more like an overhaul). In general, I believe better and more professional pics would be worthwhile with a focus on what image you want to portray. Also, add more interesting ad text to make people intriqued about you and really want to hire you (and avoid all caps). Personally I would suggest you review Romann's Rentboy ad as a very good example of what works (at least for me). In specifics, as you don't do incalls and only out and you mention in your text body that you need transportation, you should understand that this can be an issue for some clients that may prevent them from contacting and/or hiring you. As a client who mostly looks for outcalls, I would be much less interested in hiring someone who I have to pick up (and then take back). A cab may be practical but what would be the typical round trip cost? I guess what I am trying to say, as a client I am looking for as hassle free arrangement as possible and the transportation issue just complicates things so somehow you need to work that out. Finally, while some may disagree I consider Rentboy a bit more upscale than Men4RentNow (and a mile above Adam4Adam), and as such you might also rethink your pricing strategy (and is your weekend rate really $200?).

Just my two cents and attempt to be helpful from a clients perspective on the ad. Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum.

And, of course, getting a review on this site, which is widely viewed by serious customers, is an important way to get business. One way to get people to hire you from this review site is to become a welcome personality posting thoughtful comments in the message forum. I, for one, have hired several guys over the years because I was interested in meeting them as a result of their postings here.

I agree stay away from the craiglist.I agree with kevin it comes off as low rent bottom of the barrel. I think getting your own domain and hosting space and building a nice website will show how serious you are as well. But get a real domain hosting site none of that free crap. When I was a masseur I paid around 105.00 a year for a domain and hosting space. some good ones are, blue host, hostmonster. hostgator. some like go daddy I do not.

As a client, I primarily like rentboy.com. If you use men4rentnow.com, be sure to give your phone number, as some do not. AND be sure to renew your ad every two months or so. One of the reasons m4rn is less reliable is that they carry guys for months after they have stopped paying and are no longer working or in town. Rentboy requires periodic payments and drops them when they stop paying, so they guys are more likely to be available.

Since you are African-American and Vietnamese, let me offer a little personal advice. Most AfricanAmerican, and Hispanic escorts like to wear facial hair, mustaches and/or beards, and many have heavy body hair. Some clients like this. But I believe that most clients prefer the clean cut look, and notice that most white men do not wear facial hair. Notice that many escorts and porn stars shave their body hair, including the groin and ass. I think you will do better if you are clean cut and advertise the shaving of body hair. Some here will disagree, but this forum is only a tiny group.

I hope you do not take offense at any of this as it is intended to be constructive.

But not if you only plan to use men4rentnow (cough cough gag gag). For inexplicable reasons, they won't let you have a link to your own site.

 (that's my ad!)

That ad is uberly embarrassing but I guess I'm here to learn right? I plan on taking professional photos after I gain a little bit of weight and tone up my body more. As far as the transportation thing, your totally right so when I post my new ad I'll have to change that. I don't have a car, but I can just use a cab to get around.

Probably need to qualify that to UPPER east coasters? In my part of the east coast (NC) rentboy typically has 2-4 ads for my area vs a dozen or more ACTIVE ads on menforrentnow. And on rentboy they tend to be the traveling guys, not locals.

All of which just supports the earlier point - the answer depends on your location.

Hi, Marty, welcome.

You've received a lot of great advice here and you're probably already overwhelmed by it, and if that's the case I apologize for adding my two cents. I wanted to rise to the defense of craigslist, which I occasionally use for hiring. (I also use rentboy.com, and if I'm traveling in the U.S., I might check out rentmen.com) A lot of the clients and escorts on this board are down on craigslist, and certainly a lot of the criticisms are valid. There are plenty of scammers and of 'low-rent' escorts on craigslist, in some places there are police stings using craigslist and my guess is that the percentage of guys who contact you through craigslist and who are serious about hiring is lower than at other sites.

However, there may still be value in advertising there, at least as you start out. First, it's cheaper to advertise there and your ad there probably gets more views than your ad on rentboy or rentmen would, and that may be a good way for a newbie to start getting established in your city. Also, my tastes in escorts run toward guys in their 20s, rather than in their 30s or 40s, and I have found that younger escorts are more common on craigslist than on the other sites. At least that's the case in New York. Baltimore may be the same or may be totally different.

Best of luck to you.
