Discretion has its limits

 

I'd normally agree with both responders who worry about this escort's ability to keep the confidences of his clients. This is a different case, however, where I believe that we (as in members of the LGBT community) should never be cooperative (for lack of a better term) in our own oppression. [well, that's a general rule for any oppressed minority group]

 

George Rekers is undoubtedly an enemy to our community -- make no mistake about it. The fact that he is apparently a self-hating member of our community makes no difference, in fact it probably makes it worse. The same thing goes for Larry Craig, Ted Haggard, the anti-gay/anti-immigrant CA local representative caught this year with the Latino stripper (name escapes me at the moment), etc. These kinds of despicable human beings who actively seek to harm us and deny us full human and civil rights should never expect to be protected by us. I believe that escorts make their living on their reputation for quality service including discretion. I understand that it's very important, indeed it's probably the lifeblood of this profession. But enough is enough. Gay-haters shouldn't seek out elicit gay "services" and expected to be protected by the very community they actively harm.

 

Sorry if this gets the post removed to the politics section, but it felt like a natural extension of the previous responses.
