Last evening as well as right now-- I can't open http://www.rentboy.com. I can access the specific country but not definite cities. This happens with our without my logging in. Is anyone else experiencing the same difficulty?

It's been working fine for me. What happens if you try it via a different browser (Firefox instead of I.E.)? Have you tried clearing your cache?

It seems okay for me right now...but every once in a while I experience exactly what you are experiencing. It is at best a flaky site.

I know every once in a while we get complaints here about how Rentboy is a bit erratic. For some reason it has on the whole more or less behaved for me... plus I find it the easiest of the sites out there to navigate. I think that Rentmen has more and better features, but I find it somewhat confusing and bewildering at times to negotiate.

It's happening for me right now - I've selected US but the city list is blank. On numerous previous occasions, I've opened the city list but the state abbreviations weren't visible.

It's working for me just fine now, but last weekend I experienced the identical problem you have described.

I experienced the same issue yesterday using IE, Firefox, and Chrome. A few minutes later, without having cleared my cache, it was working fine. I also experienced the following:

 

1) Searched in LA. Displayed a list of escorts.

2) Searched in Orange County. It displayed a list of escorts for a few seconds, then displayed a graphic that looks like progress is being made, then displayed a message that they couldn't find any matches to my criteria.

I also have had the country show up but then no cities. When that happens I go to the advanced search and everything works fine. Hope that helps

I use the sites that have the most (current) ads for my location - that's Men4RentNow, then Rentboy, and Rentmen comes in last.

I had the same problem with Rentboy that when I went to Miami, I could see the escorts listed. Then when I went to Ft. Lauderdale, it would flash the list then say "sorry..." What I found is that Rentboy get stuck on the last page you are on. Since Miami has 5 pages and Ft Lauderdale has only 4, it is looking for the 5th page in Ft. Lauderdale, which doesn't exist. You have to page back to page 1 in Miami before you go to the next city. Then it works fine.

 

You would think that Rentboy could get their software working properly by now!

I find that Men4RentNow has too many out-of-date ads. Guys may quit escorting but their ads are still there. I find that Rentboy and Rentmen have far fewer dud ads to sort through.

but the first few pages are current, and for my area, there are 2-3 times more CURRENT listings than rentboy. (and virtually nobody in my area advertises on rentmen).

I'm in total agreement. rentmen.com works well for me and I've never experienced the glitches I have sometimes with rentboy.com.

Thus far I've read all of the preceding responses and thank you guys for responding. Earlier today I continued to experience what I first reported here initially. I haven't returned, and someone mentioned something about a "c...." I don't know what that is.

 

http://www.rentmen.com and http://www.men4rentnow.com have never caused me any difficulty. Personally I DO NOT LIKE the latter of these two sites. My hiring from it has not been too productive in the past, and I abhor the manner in which the website is set up.

 

At any rate I will continue to try to obtain what I am after from http://www.rentboy.com. Earlier I contacted the webmasters in hope that my situation will change for the better!

It's definitely buggy at times, but usually there's a work-around. (Yes, yes, I concede we ought not have to.) If you're logged in, try logging out, or vice versa. Toggle between the advanced search and the normal search. Try a different browser. If you're committed to using the site (and in my opinion it's the best out there, despite all this), some amount of effort will usually teach you some tricks to make it eventually give you what you want.

CowboyUP and Tcrusier7 - Great to hear you prefer http://www.RentMen.com... as there are 3 main choices in this niche everyone will have a favorite - and competition is good, it keeps us all on our toes. As the newbie in our 3rd year we are proud of the following we are creating one satisfied customer at a time.

 

To the point made that some other sites retain old expired profiles - I wanted to mention that on RentMen our system automatically deactivates escort profiles that expire and are not renewed - quality over quantity was a conscious choice we made. It may result in slower growth but the decision is sound and provides a more positive client experience.

 

We are here to stay, our growth continues to be steady month over month, we work at keeping downtime and bugs to a minimum and fix them quickly when reported (no one is immune!), we have new features and revisions in the pipeline but will not release RentMen 2.0 until well tested - target is August as of this writing.

 

In key markets where we need to grow we are now able to run advertising to raise awareness of our existence and build market share - it is only a matter of time, we'll get there. (our competitors have built 10 and 15 years of market share with deeper pockets currently so the road is long but we're enjoying the twists and turns!).
