To the escorts: Where have you had the most success advertising? Have any of you used print media like newspapers or magazines?

 

For those who have been escorting for a while, how much of your business is new clients, and how do they find you? To what extent do you find that reviews and word-of-mouth gets you business?

 

To the clients/hobbyists: Where do you usually find your escorts? Do you usually look for reviews on an escort, and will you still hire him if you can't find any reviews?

Slightly more than half my biz comes from rentboy. Men4RentNow (yech) is a distant second at 12%. Perhaps a tenth of those who book a session with me mention having seen my reviews, whichever venue they found me through.

 

Print ads occasionally bring in a great new client, but it's been my experience that when I have an ad out in Next magazine or the like I get off-putting calls at all hours of the night saying things like "I'll give you $20 to suck you off." For whatever reason, those calls seem to mostly come from print ads.

 

If memory serves, you offer a unique service (product?); I suspect that may be quite hard to communicate in the small amount of space given to a print ad. (I'm woefully ignorant here, but suspect there may be some specialty sites you might do well on.)

 

Year-to-date, 85% of my revenue has been from repeat clients.

I check reviews

 

I find RB to be the most reliable site when traveling, but I always look for reviews first and also have checked the Forum for additional information. Years ago before the internet became what it is today... (I started out as an infant..LOL) I used print ads and occassionally look at them now, but I would never hire someone from a print ad nowwithout looking for reviews... and trying to find comparable pictures. Some guys use different phone numbers for their different sites, and while I understand why they do that, it makes this guy suspicious. Good luck on your decisions.

Daddy is the best

 

I'm a client. I don't hire too much and the majority of my business goes to 1-2 regulars. But when hiring a new guy, Daddy's is the ultimate reference point for me. I would never hire someone that isn't well reviewed here. I tried it once and it was a disaster. Never again.

Telephone or just email?

 

Also... Do you put your phone number on your advertisements? If so, how many of your contacts are made first via phone instead of via email?

 

I've heard some highly recommend that you keep your phone number off of your ads because otherwise you'll get too many people wasting your time -- want to call and hear your voice but won't ever actually follow through with a meeting. What do you think?

For men I look on rentboy.com, men4rentnow.com, the Escort Travel and review sections of this site, and maleescortreview.com. For women and TVTSs, eros.com.

 

If I like someone's ad, I don't care whether they have reviews or not. In fact more than half the people I hire don't have any reviews.

 

About your contact info, many clients here have said they like email for first contact. I don't, for some reason; I find it kind of a nuisance. I much prefer to arrange things by phone.

 

Most every escort I know does report getting a lot of time-waster calls. Comes with the territory, it seems. One partial solution widely adopted is not to answer calls from blocked numbers, and to note this in your ads.

What works best and is most honest for me is reviews and word of mouth recommendation by Clients. I only advertise on two sites and am intermittently on this one though would like to be on here more often...

Escorts promoting temselves on any given site is just that... Clients promoting Escorts for their own discounted personal benefit is just that as well... reviews from honest clients is that and something worth taking notice of~ Clients want the real thing right??? Not just the marketed thing?
