I have been Escorting for a Year now and so far it's been fun and good!

But, i do run it like a small business, having said that i wanted to find out if you add internet to your cell phone ... would you be able to access the ESCORTS sites??? I Have been told no. I have SPRINT.

Thanks!

If you're simply looking to update your availability (set your light to green), rentboy lets you do that via any touchtone phone, no need to access the internet. (That may be a feature reserved for the top-tier ads; I'm not sure.) As for the other sites, I think it may depend on whether they run on flash of not, but folk other than I will have a better answer for that one.

It depends. Phones don't all have the same features.

I'm posting this from an iPhone (to see if I could), but not all phones resize the screen/zoom to make pages readable. Then there's Flash and other addons that some pages use, as Kevin says.

Smartphones

A few weeks ago, I decided that it had become desirable to have internet on the go and got an iPhone 3GS with a data plan. I have been finding that email has become client's preferred method of contact, including inquiries about same day availability, and that I was losing one or two clients a week by not receiving their emails immediately. You can get an application for the iPhone which alerts you when an email comes in, just like with text messages. You can access any site, including escort sites, but they are awkward to view on the small screen, though you can zoom in. As Kevin suggests, it's easier to set your Rentboy availability by touch tone. Some service providers also allow you to use your smartphone as a modem for tethering. This allows you to access the internet on your laptop, using your smartphone's internet connection, and can save you high hotel internet charges when you're travelling. I also find the Google maps feature very useful for navigating my way around cities to get to outcalls. It gives directions and pinpoints your location as you go. Plus I use their calendar/alarms to keep track of appointments. All in all, I've found having a smartphone makes my life easier and makes good business sense.

I am able to access all of the sites with my cell phone. I have a blackberry bold, editing your ad sometimes is a pain though but everything else should work if you have a smartphone.:)

I, too, have Sprint and have no trouble accessing the client features on escort web sites using my Palm Pre. I occasionally had difficulty with my Blackberry Pearl, but that was due to the browser.

So Mark when I am in Toronto in April should I e mail you to come right over?

You're very welcome to try, PK. Of course, advance notice stands a greater likelihood of success, but deciding you want to see an escort is sometimes a spontaneous decision, or needs to be fit in around other things, so I do try to accomodate clients at short-notice who contact me by phone or email.

after years of blackberrying, i am now on a droid - with verizon. it works great with all websites and yeah, i can access all the escort sites with it, edit, etc. plus, since it's a google-based phone, it wirelessly syncs my calendar immediately to my google calendar on my 'puter. but jeez, suddenly i feel like i'm pitching the droid.

Had I not just bought the Pre, I might have switched carriers to get the Droid. Nonetheless, the Pre syncs contacts and calendar entries in real time and e-mails take very little time to sync. Best of all, you can update on your phone and log into gmail from any computer and the change is already made.

you can do the synching with an iphone as well; however, (if i understand it correctly) you have to buy mobileme, set it up on your various machines, and then it works for a year until you have to pay again for the service. i don't know if they other options include it or not, but with mobile me you get 20 gig of storage for photos/movies/documents, you can publish a website and host it through your 20 gig cloud, and set up a variety of other networks with one program that integrates with windows and mac products. just putting it out there as a more defined option.

You don't have to buy mobileme for the iPhone. You can sync with Google (Mail/contacts, calendar) or with Outlook.

true. i went ahead and subscribed to mobileme anyway, because i wanted the perks of the cloud. plus with mobileme if i ever lose my iphone (or it gets stolen) i can log on to mobileme and shut the iphone down in permenant lock and/or wipe the memory clean from anywhere in the world. i figured it was a good way to protect my clients.

oh my

Welcome back! Devon. Thanks for the advice. I usually don't use iphone or things like that to keep my life simple. I memorize everything and don't need address books or things like that. I only record unnecessary things on my lap top or my phone like a local hotel number and things like that. :)

I have found that having access to the Internet on both of my phones is quite handy and I would highly recommend it. It is nice to be able to access emails, both personal and professional without having the laptop with me not to mention, with AT&T and I believe any other mobile carrier, you're free to access anything on the Internet. Now, there are those that are concerned about security but honestly, mobile phones and their Internet capabilities are actually more secure than Internet connections such as WiFi because the phone doesn't transmit a signal that is accessible for other people to tap into. That said, if someone really wants your information, they will get it no matter what security protocol used or encryption software so I think many should keep that in mind. If there is a will, there is certainly a way to get your info in seconds.

Also, Internet on a mobile device really comes in handy when I need directions and don't want to ask people on the street who typically are not sure where they're in the first place. Data plans are becoming cheaper, especially with many new Smart Phones coming on-line and competition is increasing to deliver the best and most accurate access to the Internet such as the new 4G network that Sprint "says" they're working on though preliminary reports suggest that Sprint can't even handle their current network. I used to have a mobile phone with Spring for 12 years and eventually, I grew so tired of their lack of mobile and Internet coverage that I dropped them and I'm thinking about dropping their Mobile Internet service that I use for my laptop because their Customer Service is horrific nor do they really know what or who they're talking about. At the same time, I think most mobile carriers Customer Service is very lacking but I have had good luck with AT&T.
