Personal Treatment vs Spas

Back in LA and the weather was crazy.... lol. At least i got my free massage, as soon as i get home tonite I will put up my review. Seems a lot of discussion about NYC. Myself I tend to stay away from spas... cause I don't get a personal treatment and attention.

 

For example I had Jesse both at a spa long ago and as a private session. I think when a masseur is in a business environment there is pressure on them to do a better than normal routine. Personally I found when a masseur can go at their own pace and detail things for a client in their own space the massage is like 10x better,

Spa Vs. In-Call

 

I hire therapists from nice hotel spas or private spas to come to my place to give me a massage treatment. As long as it's a professional massage, they will come to you and give a better massage. They get to keep the spa rate so it is a win/win situation for both parties. I got to know a very good massage therapist, he is really good.

What about tipping. Do you feel regular solo therapists get higher tips, therapists work in spas how about that? Jesse was just an example. Was just overall curious since the majority of people I now visit like I said our solo, and I noticed more and more spas that are more welcoming to guys.

Hotel spas mandatory charges 20% gratuity. However, less than 16% goes to the therapist and the rest goes to other spa staffs. It really depends on hotel spas. Day spas don't seem to have a mandatory 20% gratuity but how much a massage therapist actually get for providing a service really depends on the owner. If you bring in more clients you can ask for a higher commission. A massage therapist can make good money during the holidays. Because my therapist has to travel to me I usually give the full spa rate. Sometimes I add tip if I hire them during the holiday season.
