I'm wondering if any of you that use Men4Rent to contact escorts, have found the site emailing you directly to initiate contact with other escorts besides the one you initially contacted.

Today, was the first time I ever contacted a boy thru M4RN. Within less than 2 minutes, I received an email from this site directing me to other boys and options. So much for advertiser loyalties.

I just have some issues, with Men4Rent invading my privacy and promoting their services and other escorts at the expense of the boys that are advertising with them.

I'm also wondering, if the boys that are spending to keep their ads up and running month after month, are aware of this (as I see it) double standard.

It reminds me of going into a Candy Store, buying a particular item and having the person behind the counter tell me, you don't want that, look over here and choose something else. CF

Was it an active ad?

I used M4RN yesterday, and I didn't get any surplus emails from them.

We all know that they keep ads on the site long after the escorts have let them lapse. I wonder if you responded to a lapsed ad, and they sent you suggestions for active escorts? (Just a theory, and I'm not defending it, just wondering.)

Some time ago, someone on this board offered a method for determining whether an ad is still current (i.e. active & paid up). Check for Contact Info on the right column of the ad - there should be a section below services provided, with phone or an email option. Apparently they remove this section if the ad isn't paid up.

I'm curious to know whether the ad you answered is paid up. If so, and I was paying for an ad, I'd be pissed! This isn't quite the same as 'people who purchased this book/movie (xxxx) also purchased yyyy'. This would be promoting direct competition, not an additional subsequent purchase.

I've gotten similar emails before with ACTIVE ads. It's mostly advertising their new feature the WANTED LIST or escorts available NOW. It may be that no one was on the wanted list or available now in your area when you answered ad.

However, I don't like receiving the emails either. But M4RN isn't the only service that does. Rentboy and Rentmen both send unsolicited emails. I have since unscribed from such things by following the link at the bottom of such unsolicited emails.

Seeker/Scorpio. I did get a response from the escort about 40 minutes after I email him thru M4RN. This means, that his Ad was indeed active, and M4RN initiated contacting a potential client of his, before the boy even had the opportunity to respond. If I was an over anxious client, this escort would have been on the losing end.

Ill tell you, I find this to be very troubling. To me, there obviously is a lack of commitment to this sites paid advertisers.

I will share with you, that when the escort arrived and I made him aware of the situation, he was highly insulted and totally upset with THE M4RN site. He told me, his Ad had been up and running continuously for 4 years. Honestly, I totally believe him.

By the way seeker, he worded your observations almost to the exact wording.

There's an old saying, "Don't burn your bridges behind you". This is as true in life as it is in business. With the savvy M4RN has demonstrated, they may find them selves treading water, and very soon.

Unfortunately, not. Posters to this board (me included) have been complaining about M4RN for years, yet the site endures. I too wish it would die a slow and painful death, but don't hold your breath. It has survived innumerable instances of poor logic and bad business modeling only to create more counterintuitive features the next go around. I fear it and the cockroaches will outlive the rest of us.

I dislike the site, but....

I dislike the site because of it's business practices, but it appears to be site-of-choice for escorts in my area & traveling escorts, offering by far the greatest number of current ads. Rentboy & rentmen get very low use in my area (Raleigh/Durham NC); maleescortveview comes in second.

I definitely hear you Kevin. Just curious, what are some of the sites out there that are worth exploring? M4RN is now off my list.

One other question, do you have any plans of heading to Florida? CF

Rentboy of course is the 800 pound gorilla, but as others point out, it works best in the bigger markets. Rentmen gets a lot of praise from users, I just haven't noticed it generating much biz from the advertiser end.

Thanks for asking. I'll be back in Lauderdale November 13 to 17.

RentMen has an interesting business model

I was advertising on M4RN for a couple years, then took several months off. So far, I've been happy getting reacquainted with my regulars and guys who see my reviews on Daddy's.

I also started running an ad a few months ago on RentMen because it's so inexpensive. However, my experience is similar to Kevins: I've heard very little from potential clients.

I think RentMen's business model is interesting, though, as they seem to be double-dipping, providing service both to escorts and our clients, and to guys who want to look at porn online. Uploading video (which I haven't done) moves an escort's ad up in location listings. And having all those hot escort vids up encourages potential clients - as well as folks who just plain enjoy porn - to sign up as well.

I am loving Rent Men. The site is easy to the eye without a lot of intrucive ads (yes I know there are ads on there), like the idea of the videos allowing the client to see a lil bit of what he'll be getting and their customer service is speedy fast. I don't think I've had to wait more then 8 hrs for a reply and the replies have always been professional. Oh and yes their pricing is much more friendlier then Rent Boy. After being charged a couple times after canceling my membership on m4rn and getting no where with their customer service I refuse to give them my money and discourage other working guys when they ask about using m4rn. Now that I know that the site is sending out other names to clients after sending off an email this is just more amo to discourage working guys from using the dreaded crapolla site.

Hugs,

Greg

I'd like to thank all the guys that have taken time to post to this entry. Also, for keeping it alive by doing so.

Greg, I've heard from a lot of the working boys, that although RentMen is affordable, sometimes the contacts are few. I honestly hope that will change for them. The site seems to be more geared toward it's visitors and the boys that advertise.

As you said, it was easy to navigate and appealing to look at. Also, It's nice to hear the boys are more responsive and get back in a timely manner. I'm sure if a client had tried contacting you thru M4RN, the site would have graced you with two minutes before they sent off an email to whoever was trying to get in touch with you....lol

Besides the insult of being charged an extra couple months when you notified M4RN you were terminating your Ad, what was deciding factor in you kicking them to the curb? Lust curious. CF
