Men4RentNow Collecting, Storing Clients' email addys

A few years ago, after men4rentnow came on the scene, I registered with them as a client and knowingly and voluntarily gave them my primary email addy. I'm not sure why I registered, because I never login - LOL.

 

About a week ago I set up a new email account (looong story, reasons not relevant to this issue) and used it to contact an escort through men4rentnow.

 

So yesterday, I get an email from men4rentnow to BOTH of my email accounts, touting their new "Wanted List Feature: Name Your Price, We Find Him."

 

Here's my point: In the case where I registered my primary email account, I personally and physically entered my primary email addy into their registration system. In the other case, I simply contacted an escort listed on their site, via their internal email contact system, and never gave men4rentnow any permission to either save OR use my email addy for any purpose whatsoever.

 

Yes, I know this is not the place to complain, and I intend on contacting m4rn directly, but I am just curious ... does anyone else find this just a bit off-putting?

gee, nothing that happens on the net surprises me anymore....maybe we should not be so complacent (me, at least), but we all give up a little when we go out in the world....

 

for sneaky stuff like this, I have secondary and tertiary email addresses with no real name attached....no guarantee of privacy, but maybe it'll be OK.......

Yeah, a specific email address for anonymity is best.

 

Check out men4rentnow's privacy policy, where supposedly you can opt out. My suggestions is you log back on in to the site via your account and change the email address on both accounts - see if that works.

I really can not for the life of me figure you guys out & this product. Out of the escort sites this one gets the most gripes from y'all it seems. Really if you don't like it quit going to the site. If guys find that less & less of the clients are finding them on m4rn the fewer that will advertise & then maybe the site owners will get a clue. Really if one isn't happy with the product quit going there. No one is forcing you too.

I would bet a good portion of the profiles on m4rn are not up to date on their membership. Keeping all the profiles paid and not up to date membership makes the site look good. All the while someone sends off an email & chances are the escort has not kept up on his payments so the email never gets received by the escort & the client is left flusterated & upset.

Abandoned Ads, Almost as good as Fake Ads

Once an escort gives up on the M4RN site, the escort has to then log into the site again to cancel their account. The site will continue to show the escort's profile unless the escort takes this additional step.

 

Many profiles that appear on the site are orphaned and attempts to use the site to contact the escorts that are listed are fruitless. The site may appear to have many escorts in your area, but that does not mean that those profiles are actually in use by anyone.

 

Other escorts sites take down your ad if you are not using it, so the ads on the site actually are a way of contacting a real man who is really working, and will get a real message if you attempt to contact him.

Lots of out-of-date ads - but still more than the other sites

 

I realize that lots of the ads are no longer paid up and are likely dead-ends. But there are still at least twice as many ads with phone numbers as there are ads in rentboy, rentmen, etc.

 

I'm NOT definding the site - I'm just saying that for some of us, it offers more choices than the competitors and so we'll continue to use it 'warts and all'.
