I always ask a client after a session if they would like to be contacted when I am back in their area. That way they don't have to constantly look to see when I am coming back, although my travel schedule is usually 2 months in advance. 99.9% of my clients prefer this method. I think the difference you experienced is that he was soliciting you as opposed to just informing you of his arrival. (almost gives the appearance of desperation) My clients appreciate the email reminder as it gives them first priority. To each their own.

 

 

Also, don't text the client asking if they're "around". I find that really annoying. If I want to see the guy again, then I will initiate contact.
