Video software?

I have some video that I want to edit and make into one "movie" rather then six few minute clips. Any req's on a simple to use video editing program that is either inexpensive or free? I am not trying to make the next Gone With The Wind or Star Wars, just want to do something very simple and clean.

I used iMovie on a mac to synchronize separately recorded sound to video of a two hours concert I played in, and it worked just fine. (there were some lapses in the video so a certain amount of juggling was required, and iMovie was up to the job).

 

it comes free with a mac, but if you don't have a mac that would make it an expensive piece of software ;-)

Oops should have mentioned I do not use Apple computers.
