Here's a line from the blogger Benjamin Nicholas, who has struggled to keep his blog going this year:

I know it's been rough keeping up with the blog when you have to write it yourself, but this item shows the man behind the facade to be as heartless as any of his foes have thought. I once supported him, but that is in the past. His attempts to keep a blog going are at the expense of others, not through the use of any talent. It's sickening to see him critique West Side Story as though he had ever written anything that could come close to matching it. He comments that people will give someone like Harlow Cuadra a pass because he is cute, but they do the same thing to him, when they excuse this poor excuse for a blog just because he once sucked their dick. Time to hang it up, Nicholas.

Well, he must be getting mail or reading here, because the latest Twitterings on his blog are the "I totally meant to do that" excuse ("new 15MM blog posting, tackier than ever!") Like the spoiled kid in school who daily used to brag about the new things daddy had bought them or was going to buy them, I grew tired of his theater, restaurant, Admirals Club, and hotel reviews a long time ago. But it is a fabulous car wreck so his page gets occasional hits from me. Ask me if I don't want to read him "rip Trump's hotel in Chicago a new asshole" next month. Oooh! Such a cruel tease.

When I first wandered out into cyberspace, I stumbled across 15MM (9/9/06). BN was plugging Daddy's Reviews and I clicked through to this site. For that I am grateful.

 

Clearly BN chose to market himself as a silly, shallow, self-oriented boy toy, but many of his posts showed a decent heart behind the mask. Turned out all those posts were plagerized and have since been removed. Posts showing contempt for swish guys and gays engaged in political protest remain. I take them to be true slips of the mask. From my own life, I suspect that a hefty chunk of self distructive self-hatred lies behind both the contempt and the choice of image. Remember we are talking about a journalism grad student who commited career suicide with copy he could have rewritten in 15 minutes flat, at least enough to avoid detection.

 

This is not intended as an attack on BN. I have wrestled with the same demons and not always sucessfully. And I'm not saying kiss and make up. I don't know the history of this board prior to 9/9/06; there may be very good reasons for the hostility to BN. I am saying I feel more sad than angry.

I never did fully understand the facination with BN. I wrote last year how I tried to hire him in Austin a few years back. Everything was a go until 3 hours before we were to hook up. He had a "personal emergency" and had to cancel. 6 hours before, there was no personal emergency, then 3 hours later there was. KMEM blasted me then and I am sure he will again since KMEM is really BN in disguise. I complained to this Daddy guy as well, but for some strange reason, he is as enamored with BN as most of his other loyal subjects. Cysts on the butt don't sprout up in 3 hours, at least KMEM said the "personal emergency" was a cyst. Like Rick Monroe said a year ago when all of this was going on....TOO MUCH INFORMATION KMEM.

Somehow I don't understand the posts on this thread. If you don't want to read BN's blog, then don't. However, instead, it seems to have been read by all those who have posted on this thread and have nothing but complaints. Not everyone understands another's sarcasm, innuendo and hyperbole and that is very evident by the posts on this thread. BN does not smoke, do drugs of any sort or engage in unsafe sex. That does not make him a paragon of virtue but it does put him head and shoulders above many on this board. Enough said.
