Boardwalk is Booming

newatthis and I visited the Boardwalk in Fort Lauderdale last week and had a very enjoyable evening. You can read his remarks above in the Strip Clubs FAQ. I agree with him completely.

 

Let me add, that Boardwalk is very conveniently located on Andrews Avenue, one of the main but quiet streets in central Fort Lauderdale. There are several parking lots providing lots of easy, free, and safe parking. Admission is free until 9:00 p.m. and then there is a cover charge of $5.00. Drinks are moderately priced all eveing, and 2-4-1 before 9:00. There are a few dancers prior to 9:00, but most dancers appear after 9:00 and keeping coming all night. Eventually there are 30-40 dancers per night and they go on until 2:00 a.m.

 

The whole interior has been redone and redecorated, so what was formerly effectively two room with a partition between them is now effectively one room with a low partition. It is much nicer and spreads the crowd around the whole room. You can enjoy guys dancing on all four platforms (after 9:00) all around the room, and the bar in back has its own crowd. The crowd was rather young the night we were there, with lots of customers as cute as the dancers. You can always find several guys to chat with.

 

There were a number of new boys, and several of them were very nice. Highly recommend:

 

Brady - cute, young, blond, from Upper Midwest, sweet and sexy

Francesco - Hispanic American, very cute, energetic, young, curly black hair, don't miss him

Gilbert - quite tall, but very smooth and very sweet and from Brazil

Sammy - delightful French Canadian who has danced at Taboo and traveled all over the world. Gorgeous body and the best abs you will probably ever see

Alexi - the ultra cute, ultra twink, young Hispanic; his English is much improved and his lap room performance is outstanding

 

Lots of other dancers, including Danny and Olin and Nathan and Franco and Sebastian and many more. Dancers walk around the bar in their underwear after they have performed on the stages and talk with customers, and $1 tips get you a lot. Dancers will stay with you as long as you periodically slip bills in their briefs. Back room dances are usually $20 for 10 minutes, but before 9:00 p.m. and at quiet times, many dancers will give you 20 minutes for $20.

 

For those wondering, the weather in Fort Lauderdale right now is wonderful for relaxing, although not good if you are going to do heavy manual labor out-of-doors. Stay out of direct sunlight between 11:00 and 3:00, but take a lounge chair out by the pool or on the beach and situate yourself under a palm tree or seagrape tree. There are always pleasant breezes, and it is very nice. The eye-candy cannot be beat along the beach, and there are now more than 30 gay guest houses, which are delightful places to stay. This is off-season, so it is easy to get a reservation at a gay guesthouse or any other accommodation and at a good price. Motels along the beach are advertising rooms for $49.

 

Remember, there are four male stripper bars in Fort Lauderdale: Boardwalk , probably the most famous, with the greatest variety, and the most popular. But there is also Johnny's at 1100 W. Broward and featuring thin, young twinks exclusively; Dudes at 3100 E. 33rd with an excellent piano bar and gym bunny type dancers; and Torpedos at 2929 W. Broward for those who like to stay up late - dancers don't appear until midnight and then go until 4:00 a.m. There is probably more action in the side room at Torpedos than anywhere else.

 

Fort Lauderdale is also home to many excellent and moderately priced restaurants, so you can enjoy a special meal each night. Some are aimed almost exclusively at a gay clientele and are very special and enjoyable; you will not find such places in New York or Los Angeles. The four best are: Tropics, Chardees, Sage, and Hi-Life. The ethnic restaurants are excellent and very numerous: Indian (Bombay and Madras are the best), Greek (Greek Islands ), French (33rd and Dine or French Cafe), Thai (Tasty Thai or Thai at Gateway , Cuban (Las Vegas or Latin Bohemia), and many more. Plus there are many, many gay bars catering to all tastes and types. There are several good clothing-for-gay-men stores with lots of choices. The free magazine Hotspots is available every two weeks all over town and is filled with information.
