I will be able to go to either in the next week or two but am not sure which is better for more fun with guys - and I am also not clear if I am going to be disappointed with the "scene" after Brazil - is it all just private dances or is there more going on? ANY info would be appreciated.

Dear "goingtorio"

Considering that you have visited Rio, I agree with the above poster that you will be disappointed with Montreal (or Toronto) if you visit those cities.

For several years I used to go to Montreal nearly every month.

Then, in 2003, someone from this board convinced me to go to Rio. I reluctantly went to Rio and have returned to that city and other parts of Brazil time and again. There is no place like Brazil.

Although I went to Montreal three times in 2005, I was disappointed with each trip.

My main complaints about Montreal are my observation that drugs are commonplace on the streets and in the bars and dance clubs. I also noticed that the guys in Montreal do not have the charm of the Brazilians. Once you have known Brazilians, there is no turning back the clock.

I also noticed that even in the summer in Montreal (with warm weather) the number of people in the "village" had dwindled to about half of what it was only a couple of years ago. This was another disappointment.

Furthermore, the "dance" bar scene also has changed in Montreal. During my three trips to Montreal in 2005, it seemed my choice was limited to "twinks" (which I do not find interesting) or overly muscled guys (which I also do not find interesting). There was very little choice in between except for guys with "attitudes" or those on drugs.

The above are my opinions which obviously disqualifies me as a spokesperson for the Montreal Tourist Board.

My friends are trying to convince me to give Montreal another try. However, after three trips just last year, it will be a while before I go north of the U.S.

I hope this helps.

As a little treat, click on this link which might entice you to forego Montreal and return to Rio.

Although I am from Montreal and spend a good deal of time here, I am also familiar with Toronto and Rio and Sao Paulo in Brazil. Each place has its charms and drawbacks. While I enjoy a good time as much as the next horny guy, I don't let the reality of my surroundings become obscured.

I agree about the drug problem in Montreal and since I don't indulge I feel it is a big negative. That being said, drugs are everywhere and even in Montreal you can find guys to play who aren't into them; you just have to ask and also indicate you don't want to participate.

I agree that Montreal has more dancers and escorts who are available at reasonable prices (particularly the escorts) and with the dancers you really have to discuss what it is you're looking for and be prepared to negotiate (at this toime of year there is more flexibility in pricing). In fact a couple of days ago I had a dancer phone me up seeking an appointment so I know biz is down.

While Brazil is very charming and the quantity of available men is overwhelming, you do have to deal with the language issue as many of the sauna boys don't speak any or much English. You also have to be much more careful of your personal security as robbery and muggings are much more common in the large cities. If you are a victim, it will quickly sour your vacation.

Of the three destinations, it costs more to get to Brazil and Toronto is the most expensive market for other things. Montreal is the coldest in winter but this winter has been exceptionally mild.

Hope this helps.

First, I moved from Boston to Toronto close to two years ago. I love Toronto. Having said that, I've wanted to experience Rio but Im not the type that likes to venture to foreign places alone on my first visit, so Ive yet to make the trip. I've experienced Montreal numerous times through the years and do enjoy it.

I love escorts and dancers, as Im sure many of you do. Remingtons is the only real strpper bar in Toronto. Ive had many a good evening playing with the dancers. And what I have found is that when you find the right dancer, the one you want, they are much more sensuous in the VIP rooms than almost all of the Montreal dancers Ive met. Ive had many a happy ending in Remingtons.

So, to each his own.

Travel and experience as much as you can.

And please, someone go with me to Brazil.

RE: Montreal or Toronto? or Rio?

IMO luv hit the nail(s) right on the head. I've never been to Rio. What I read about it fascinates me, but it sounds like a very different scene from Montreal. FWIW, a friend of mine who was in the habit of visiting Montreal several times a year has not stopped visiting since he discovered Rio -- which he also loved.

I, like imrthr, visited Montreal several times last year, and I wasn't at all disappointed. All of this depends on your expectations, of course, not just on the "objective" reality.

In any case, there's a ton of reading material about Montreal and Toronto in the male strip clubs forum. Reading through it will give you a realistic idea of what it can be like.

Have fun, wherever you go!

I met my special friend at Remington and our friendship is still going strong after eleven or twelve years.

I shall be in Rio from March 22 to April 10 and actually to Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo five days each before that. I am much more conversant now with my Brazilian Portuguese. I am willing to show anyone the ropes. Just drop me a line.

mansor47,

Are you willing to tell us who your special friend is? 11 or 12 years is quite remarkable because Remington's will only have been open 13 years this coming June.

I have also been to Rio, Toronto and Montreal. Rio is a totally different category because of the distance, length of time necessary, language, passport/visa issues, security, etc. It is a major trip. Toronto or Montreal can be simple weekend, or longer, quick and easy getaways. Montreal is more fun and has four clubs vs Toronto's one. However, I have always found that happiness results when you find that one special guy that you 'fall in love with.' That can happen anywhere. Good luck!

Can’t name his name but I can tell you that he danced there beginning early 1994 when he turned nineteen. Round the same time as the Asian beauty named Bradley. I liked Bradley too but for one reason or another, he got away. Anyway, my friend’s look is no longer as fetching as the day we met but his intelligence and even disposition have more than compensated for the physical change. There was another one named Allan who danced there for a long time. Use to slip fivers in his sock when ever he danced on the pole in front. Did not even thank me, never talked to me. I eventually lost interest of course specially when I heard him coughing a really loaded hacking cough. And then there was a guy from Montreal called Alexander who came down with his friend Sebastian. I followed those two to Montreal to the Stock bar along with Rene who mesmerized me (with his dick) when I saw him dance at the Gaiety in NY.

Toronto struck me as Chicago without personality. Montreal is a blast...even drug free! (I have never encountered drug use there. Spain is a different story on that one!)

Rio is simply a different experience. Since only Tomcal can fly to Rio at whim, most would be satisfied with Montreal in between trips.
