Like everything else in life, the Montreal strip club scene is cyclical.

This is not the best cycle for Taboo these days.

However, that being said, Helmuth is gorgeous. Patrick is gorgeous. Jean-Sebastian and Damien are very cute.

Adonis has some real twink cuties... like Devin, Ralph, Robby, and Travis... definitely worth a look.

Have fun.

Taboo's website is not very up to date. Several of those guys don't work there anymore, and there are many guys who work there but aren't on the website. I would say the cutest ones aren't on there!

It also doesn't help that the pictures don't tend to be very flattering - the guys look better in person. I think this is also true of the Campus website.

>club has some rather average looking dancers. Does Taboo

>really have a decent selection of twink boys 18-19?

Is Taboo your only or primary reason for considering Montreal? Or is it twinks?

'Decency' is in the eye of the beholder. }( I suspect many would hold the present crowd at Taboo in pretty high esteem. Like Marc A. I consider Taboo is not at it's high water mark right now. However, there are some hot and fun guys there -- one Aztec god immediately comes to mind :9 -- just not as many that suite my taste right now. Probably because Adonis is providing very strong competition for the talent. That being said, Between Taboo, Adonis, and Campus/days I have no problem finding more cute twinks than I can afford. And there are also new faces appearing on the scene. The more so as summer approaches.

The Taboo website is woefully out of date. I suspect the reason for that is they have been unable to find a photographer that takes as piss-poor pics as they now have displayed. :o

RE: The Tide at Taboo

I will bid on priceline (biddingfortravel) and hopefully get a decent 3 star hotel in Montreal. It's a 10 hour drive, each way, from my house.

I ve never been to Montreal. I have no clue as far as parking, hotels, etc.

I'll end up going may 7th-12th. Hopefully I will be able to find a few twinks MY TYPE at Taboo and Adonis who can be persuaded to join me at my hotel.

Thanks for everyones help.

RE: The Tide at Taboo

Thought i would throw in my two cents worth for your trip. First of all.. hotel.. I am going to be in montreal from April 20-26. I did the priceline bid and got the hyatt regency for 45$ US per nite. The Village is very easy to get to from any downtown hotel via the subway system. Last year was my first visit to montreal and my first time ever to ride subways, but it was easy to find my way around. Not sure exactly what type twinks you are looking for, but the youngest looking ones will be found at either taboo or adonis. As far as taking them back to your hotel, that will really depend on you and them.. When I was there last year, I was still kinda new to the whole strip scene and when I made comments about taking them back with me, the general response was that I probably couldnt afford them. I never really pursued it beyond that. If you want to "order in", I have been told that the Hot Boys Agency (number can be found in The Fugues magazine is very reliable for twink type escorts. Just to be very specific on what you do or do not want. Hope this helps, and I will be sure to update more during and/or after I return...

And, if you don't care for the subway scene, stay at the Hotel Governeur. It is well managed, has inside safe parking, is in walking distance of Taboo, Adonis, Campus (making it real simple for "take homes"), and is friendly to our comings and goings. :-)

Ditto. Use Hot Boys or Agence Bel Homme to make a definite score. They are the same agency with same inventory, same phone number. ;-) Be specific, don't be embarassed. they are there to provide you with a service and need to know what you desire. No online pics so you will need to give a good description of what you want. Typical rates in CDN $ are $100 without anal, $130-$150 for anal depending top/bottom. (Not sure if two tier anal is still quoted.)

You might or might not score with a dancer. It all depends on them, on you, on their circumstances at the time of the month. Won't hurt to ask. The vast majority of dancers don't view themselves as escorts. Interested guys will generally want more $ than agency or independent escorts -- often much more.

10 hours is a LOOOOOOONG drive-they do have a lovely airport in Montreal(YUL)

5 hours is about my cut-off for driving versus driving-although it has been known to stretch to 6)

If you do not wish to fly-ok.But otherwise-take a plane.

If you need info on a cheap flight private me and I will set you up with some info.

And a car is a pain in the ass in a big city-especially one you have never been to.

The excitement mounts..In just 12 days, i will be airborne on my way to Montreal. I am still trying to find one or more guys to spend some time with while I am there. Could be a fellow M4M-er to hang out with.. or some hot twink to play with.. if anyone has any referrals for the hot twinks, please send me the information. Of course I have read of Marc Anthony's favorite boy, Helmuth, and I was told to be sure to check at Ryan at Campus days by BGP. But I realize the chance to actually spend time with dancerboys will be slim. While I do love seeing them, I want to do more than just see...so come on guys.. give a guy some help here... And yes, I will more than likely give Hot Boys a call this trip too.

RE: The Tide at Taboo

The advantage of going with someone from the clubs is that you know exactly what you're getting (at least in terms of look(s)) and have a big selection to choose from. Tampa Yankee has noted some of the disadvantages.

If you really want to spend time with a dancer outside of the clubs, first get to know him at the club -- do some long dances with him, talk with him, let him see you're a generally ok guy -- and then pop the question. More than once a dancer whom I asked about "hotel privates" has told me he didn't do them, only to offer one a day or two later when he knew me better.

There's probably going to be some negotiation over price, what's included, and how long he's going to be there. You avoid all that by going with an agency or an independent that you find in Fugues.

Several posters here, myself included, are reluctant to name names of dancers they've have done hotel privates with, since the dancers don't view themselves as escorts and available to anyone who asks. On the other hand, no dancer I've asked has ever been insulted by the question, so long as I was polite and respectful.

Good luck and have fun -- take it easy and you'll find it almost impossible not to.

RE: The Tide at Taboo

I actually found a flight, non-stop direct, from detroit to montreal for $340 roundtrip. Then I'd have to pay like $35 each way to-and-from my hotel for a taxi. Still beats 10 hours on the road each way with gas nearing $2.50 per gallon. The plane trip is only 1hr:40 each way. Should I bring $1,000 cash in American or exchange it at the airport before departing? Or should I withdraw at the ATM in Canada. Does Taboo take credit card for private dances? Do taxi's take credit card?

Id get the bed-and-breakfast place near taboo, but i dont think they can beat priceline $40 for a 3 star downtown. Im only in montreal for 5 nights, 6 days so hopefuly that will be enough time for my special dancer to get to "know me" before coming back to my hotel. Plus Im in decent shape, dress nice, and 31 years old so it might help me.

Does anyone know if you need a current passport to travel from the USA to Canada. All I have is my EXPIRED passport with my childhood photo from when I was 8 years old. I have a current driverse license which is always enough to cross the Ambassador bridge from Detroit to Windsor , Canada. Would Montreal be different?

As far as taking a dancer home, I prefer asking a dancer to come back to my hotel as opposed to going through an escort agency... simply for the fact that I am probably the most picky person when it comes to boys. And I like to be in control. I want to know exactly who Im getting before sealing the deal. I like the mix of personality and the chase in convincing a dancer to come to the hotel and get spoiled LOL.

RE: The Tide at Taboo

Well I am glad you are flying-your ticket was kinda high-if you have not bought it yet private me and maybe I can help you get it cheaper.

Money-I have found it best to exchange a little-$50 usd perhaps at the airport-you will get a horrid rate-and then do several LARGE transactions at a BANK(as opposed to a private i.e. one at the bar)owned ATM.Last trip(03/05)I was able to take out $500CDN at a time. This lessens the effects of the surcharges the banks charge.

the Dorian above the Taboo looks like a great place for a tryst-but the neighborhood is a real snooze-you will get a better room(and a better deal)at the Hyatt.

The one tip I guess I would offer is not to be to shy with the boys at Taboo. But don't come off as a total perv either.Say hello, buy them a drink, spend some time.

Taboo is my least favorite of the clubs.I have much better luck at this sort of thing at campus and Adonis.

It helps alot if you meet up with a more experienced person while you are in Montreal. If the boys see you with someone they know/recognize they are much more willing to spend social time with you.

Red slippers won't hack it.

Cash is good, exchange only a little -- $50- $100 at the airport in Canada. You will get better rates near the hotel. Best rate in Old Montreal next to McDonalds near Saint Laurent and St Jacques(?) or not quite as good a rate in China town at St Laurent and Blvd Rene Levesque. Both easy walking distance from Hyatt. Also ATMs are convenient in Mall adjacent to Hyatt. Standard Visa exchange rates -- not good not bad -- 3% fee as of April 2. BTW, this seems competitve with most exchange offices but not with the best rate in Old montreal.

>Does Taboo take credit

>card for private dances?

Yes but not compatible with all cards. My network, Cirrus, thank god, was not accepted. YOu will pay a HEAVY premium with that machine or any club machine. Bank ATMs 2 blocks away (St Catherine and Papineau across from Adonis) for that moment when the well runs dry just a little too soon.

Do taxi's take credit card?

Ummm.... no.

I'm sure if you are flexible enough in your taste and willing to spend whatever it takes that you will succeed.

>Does anyone know if you need a current passport to travel from

>the USA to Canada.

No you don't. An official birth certificate and picture ID will suffice, at least until next year. Passports for Canadian citizens will be required for US entry in the near future. I assume that US citizens will need one for reentry too. I understand that Canada will reciprocate for US citizen entry.

>All I have is my EXPIRED passport with my

LOL... I hope this is a measure of your sense of humor. BTW neither US nor Canada customs has much of a sense of humor these days.

I'm shocked that suffices for Windsor these days. If you try that at Dorval customs I'm willing to take almost any bet that you will be turned back. And should you be lucky enough to get IN then you had better arrive for your return flight several hours early as US customs will want your company for some time while they verify that you really are who you say you are. You are not in Kansas anymore. :)

RE: Red slippers won't hack it.

I already booked my flight for $340 roundtrip. It was the cheapest roundtrip flight available. All the other flights were more than twice as much, plus they had sevral layovers.

I know you can get a cheaper flight on pricleine, but that usualy reuqires atleast one layover, and you are at the mercy of priceline as far as what time the plane departs and arrives.

Since I wake up around 2pm everyday due to my work schedule, a morning flight is out of the question. I found a flight that leaves at 5:15pm and arrives at 7:00pm, and vice versa on the way back.

http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1082.html

It looks like my expired passport will be acceptable after all, atleast for this year. It cost around $100 to get a new passport so im glad i dont need a new one.

I will use priceline for my hotel. I hope I get a good hotel. I've heard of Delta, Hyatt, and Holiday Inn Select, and Crown for 3 stars on priceline.

I'll be in Montreal, and Taboo for that matter, May 7th -May 12th. A friend told me to exchange my money at the Casino in Detroit for a good exchange rate?

I can't beleive I actually booked a flight to Taboo! I absolutely hate flying! I haven't flown in over 7 years and I always clutch the arm rest the entire destination.

Good news.

I suggest you try ASAP so that you will have opportunities for rebids. Check Biddingfortravel.com for latest info on hotels in play. Inventory seems tight for end of april and end of May. Not sure for your dates. BTW Crowne sucks IMO. Fortunately it seldom comes up and then at higher bid rates.

Don't forget Hotwire if Priceline is not being very agreeable. It has been somewhat competitive lately. Saw a 4.5* at US $79 while the 4* Intercontinental on Priceline was going at US $80 -$88. Think it might have been the Boutique XiX Siecle in Old Montreal. Just a guess.

I have heard that the Casino in Montreal exchanges at par. Never done it though as I think they expect you to play. US --> chips --> CND. Maybe not. If so figure winnings/losses and cab fare to and fro as overhead fees. Makes sense if you are a gambler anyway, otherwise...

RE: Red slippers won't hack it.

I never bother to exchange money before entering Canada. Yes it is good to get $50 or $100 to cover the cab ride into town ($31 CDN - flat rate). But I have always just used my ATM card at the Bank Machines at Banks in Montreal (Guichet = ATM). My bank does not charge a fee for using my card, and Canadian Banks don't have a service fee. So you get the exact exchange rate with no fees. At least I do. That way you are not carrying a large amount of cash with you (which is sometimes considered suspicious at the border). But remember to use the bank ATM's, not the ones in the bars.

I would recommend that you get your passport renewed. You have enough time, and they do it by mail now. You will have less trouble at Customs at the airport, and eventually you will need one anyway. And if you are like the rest of us here on the board, you will keep going back over and over again.

Whose exact exchange rates? I doubt your bank is into service gratis any more than the other banks. If so then I'll take my business there too if you are willing to share.
