I don't know if Denise reads this forum. I know that she knew about it and wasn't always happy that it existed and I understand why.

There are people that felt the Gaiety got a lot of free publicity from this forum and Denise benefited from this publicity (even if it was unwanted).

The Gaiety was a big success on it's own for many years so the whole publicity issue is , I think, moot.

So..Denise, if you are reading this or someone might want to pass on this info, I would like to express my sincere thanks for all the years that the Gaiety existed. I know that only a person with much dedication could have could have kept the place going for 30 years. I truly admire that.

I know I speak for many when I say we are all very sad and hope that it will re-open at another time and place. I know there are many difficutlites involved.

I'm sure Denise deserves some time off after all these years and has a lot of thinking about what to do next.

Along with a thank you I would like to wish her good luck and happiness in the future.

Deep down inside I'm really hoping she won't retire. Please Denise, try to re-open the Gaiety. It's such an important part of NY history that it will be very sad if we lose it forever.

Denise seldom reads this forum, therefore, I am known as the "spy" of this group. Call me what you may, but I will forward these gracious comments to Denise anyway.

I am not a spokesperson for Denise unless she specifically tells me what to write. I am just a good friend that also owns a business. You will know when Denise gives an opinion for me to transpose to this forum. Believe me, I will make that very clear!

Thanks

The Village

Why wouldn´t the G fit into the Village as a hot spot?

Seems like the natural place for it!

RE: The Village

Don't shed any tears for Denise. She is already in Greece enjoying her retirement, which will be a rich one considering all the money she raked in over the years from the brothel she ran on 46th street. She flew out of JFK last night for Athens. So those of you who think she is working hard to relocate, don't hold your breath. She didn't even have the decency to notify the dancers who were already booked to perform in future weeks. They are learning of the closing the same way most of us did, from friends and the internet.

RE: The Village

I am sure it will take Denise Many Years to spend all her "G" Profits, Depending on the Exchange rate, in whatever country she graces, with her presence! She worked the Guys as hard as possible, Her "MY WAY" or the Highway ruled Supreme...Anyone who doesn't think so, was Definitely Blinded by that Tacky $3.98 Mylar Curtain, she definitely got her moneys worth out of!. :+ :+ :+

RE: The Village

If Denise retires with a lot of money I say good for her. She worked many hours 7 days a week for 30 years. She was running a business not a charity. The whole idea is to make a profit in business. She may have worked the dancers hard but we all benefited from her running a tight ship. I'm sure keeping a lot of those dancers in line wasn't always easy. They did ok too.

Also the admission price was a bargain, especially when you compare it to other forms of Broadway entertainment or even just going out to dinner. Even a movie costs 10 bucks or more.

I just hope she is bored in retirement but that's wishful thinking on my part. She was a smart, hard working business woman. She deserves credit for that. Why do people always pick on women who are successful in a male/straight/white world? I think it's unfair and I still think she deserves a "thank you" for all the fun I had at the place.

SHE IS NOT IN ATHENS!

Don't start spreading false rumors to make her look like an idiot. I will defend her in anyway possible from such rubbish you speak!

Thank You to Denise & Stop Bashing Her

>DENISE HATED THIS MALE4MALESCORTS.COM site, as she told me

>several times.

Denise was right, this site was a double-edged sword for her... it brought great free publicity for patrons to know about the Gaiety and schedule but it also made her vunerable to becoming more noticed by NYC law or code enforcement.

I have no doubt Denise knew in advance when Gaiety would be closed. She was a smart business owner, with good attorneys and I'm sure a good lease agreement. Tenant and lease agreements cannot be different in NYC. Having said that, it was her business and financial risk involved not anyone else's (especially complaining posters in this M4M strip club forum) so she had to make the judgement call on what type of notice to give. I don't know all the circumstances. Probably would have been better if she could have ended on a Saturday night with everyone aware of it and I think her last weekend's business would have been great. But who knows. Anyway... It was her money and earnings at risk. The dancers also made good money at their side business via the lounge and local hotels while at the Gaiety.

I agree with every word Foxy wrote at beginning of this thread and then his last reply he wrote. Some of the Gaiety dancers were difficult to deal with at times, cancelling at the last minute or just not showing up including some of the headliners like Jason Adonis in particular. She followed through about patrons complaints about a dancer if they were serious complaints. The Gaiety was a good bargain to be able see such hot, nude, erect young men (even if she charged weekend admission rate for a Monday holiday). Its a shame but that's life... change.

If Denise is trying to find a new code-safe location for the Gaiety that is great news for Gaiety fans. So stop bashing her and try to look at it from her perspective and financial stake. If she can find a safe location then the value of the Gaiety business for her to sell in future has some higher value. So hopefully that will be the motivating force for her to find a new location, so she has something of value to sell. Good luck to her!
