Ft Lauderdale compared to Montreal

Just got back from spending 5 wonderful days in Ft Lauderdale. I know there have been numerous posts here about both cities as gay travel destinations so I figured I would chime in with some of my thoughts. The weather in FLL was beautiful, in the 70's everyday, it was great to get away from the cold and snow of the northeast. The clubs in FL were a great time. Loved hangin out at Cathode Ray, the best night being Wednesday night. The place was packed with cute boys. The Wednesday I was there they were holding MTV reality TV auditions and it seemed like every boy there could be in a A&F catalog Needless to say it felt like I had died and gone to heaven. Coliseum was another fun club. A huge dance club that was packed on Saturday night, lots of cute friendly guys. Also loved hangin out at Georges Alibi watchin the Super Bowl. FLL has a huge choice of gay clubs however they are all spread out all over town so you have to use a car to get around. I have to say I missed the ambience of the Gay Village in Montreal, you can walk from club to club and you can forget about your car.

 

As far as Strip Clubs I would have to say Montreal wins easily. On several different nights I visited Boardwalk, Johnny's and Torpedo's and really wasn't impressed with any of them. My preference for strippers are twinks to college preppy boys and really didn't find many guys to my liking. I thought Torpedo's was the best of the strip clubs very nice atmosphere with some cute guys however I didn't have the urge to sample any of them in the back rooms. Boardwalk was rather dark, some of the boys were ok but nobody that really caught my eye, maybe I was there on the off nights I don't know. I would have to say if you are lookin for strip clubs you can't go wrong with Montreal I guess I just love the French boys.

Overall Ft Lauderdale is a great winter getaway. The gay nightlife is thriving, definately get a rental car, but finding the clubs is pretty easy. However if you are looking for fun strip clubs I would recommend Montreal.
