6. Matteo: he's got this really funny hairdo, spiked, bleached blond highlights that he somehow manages to pull off. Maybe that was a bad choice of words. I was surprised to hear that TJ, Dominick, and AJ were all asking $250 for a private show. After listening to dancers complain about business being down, I wonder how long before these guys get real. The average payment for a private is $200, and when some patrons start paying more, it makes it difficult on the rest.

 

Just as a reminder, ask all the specific questions about your private before leaving the lounge (esp. this week). This way you can avoid some big time disappointments. Like others, I too have learned the hard (costly) way.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I agree, it's best to ask questions, but sometimes that's very hard to do. We are intoxicated by the good looks of these guys and their seductiveness on stage. It's hard to imagine we'd have a bad time appreciating that. I frequently don't ask; luckily, I have been fortunate in my choices.

 

I personally WILL NOT pay 250 for a Gaiety private with anyone. If that's not negotiable, they will have to find a client elsewhere. With the business being slow these days, there was talk of some guys even considering 150, so 250 becomes more unrealistic. From the dancer's perspective, if they can get 250, more power to them. I will stand firm on this and won't back down.

this is not new pricing with tj. when i had a private with him in nyc 1 1/2 to 2 yrs ago, he stated his price was $250. said that was what he felt he was worth; why should he go for less, he was getting enough customers at $250. basically agreeing with his philosophy, and being intrigued about everything i saw, i decided to give it a try at $250. i enjoyed the private very much, but certainly wouldn't splurge like that very often, in fact that was the only time. i have paid $200 for other dancers and in most cases been disappointed, mostly due to the "famous knock on the door by roommates trick". i guess the other dancers' price is due to knowing what tj gets away with asking; i also hope they don't get enough takers, as to start a higher pricing tier. i've already reached the conclusion that even $200 is too high a price to pay, given the pitfalls of having the session over too quickly due to the time constraints/trickery of the dancer/roommates. when i come to the gaiety now, it is mainly to look, and try to resist the urge to depart with my $200 for a quicky. this aspect was mentioned in a previous thread where it was said that business for dancers was off, and some mentioned if patrons didn't give the dancers business, the dancers would stop coming to perform. in addition to the issue of the economy, the dancers also have themselves to blame for "killing the goose the lays the golden eggs".

So for $500 you can get "fucked" by TJ. Getting "fucked" takes on a whole new meaning in that sentence ... TJ's "LA brother" AJ said for $300 he would let you suck his dick with a condom on, but no reciprocation. He also knows how to "fuck" a client! ... In TJ's defense, he might charge more, but he doesn't display the "attitude" bordering on contempt that too many of the other dancer's do. Shelling out money only to be made to feel UNdesirable is a real bummer. He at least is genuinely sociable, seems to remember you, be happy to see you, etc. I've been approached in the liunge by guys who didn't seem to remember that I had been very unhappy with our previous(and only) meeting.

And TJ doesn't do the roommate game, which is a major plus(even thouhg it should be par for the course).

As for if it's too much, I'd bet pretty much all the dancers are available for less depending on the time of day you're looking for.

Maybe the time has come to say to a Gaiety dancer "Sure, I'll pay you $200 (or more) if I have a good time, but if I don't, I'm not paying you anything". I'm not looking to rip off a dancer, but I don't think clients should get ripped off either. Gaiety patrons live in the NY area where there are plenty of great full-service escorts. Book one of these guys, and go to a Gaiety performance just before your appointment. Enjoy the show and then go have good paid for sex. Eventually the Gaiety guys will realize they can't pay their hotel bill unless they are willing to perform off the stage. I love the Gaiety...I just don't shop there anymore.

I have lots of thoughts on this topic (why should that surprise you?).

 

Realize that most of these guys are not "gay". Even if they are, they are instructed not to confess, as clients might expect them to do more than they would have to do otherwise. In many cases, a gay escort from this site or elsewhere will be more full-service and probably more fulfilling, but possibly not as great looking. On the other hand, at The Gaiety we get to see what a guy really looks like up close and personal and we can make value judgements on what turns us on and what doesn't, easier comparative shopping. We don't have to worry about fake pictures, old pictures, cleanliness issues. Additionally, because they are working at The Gaiety, the guys would be stupid to cause a commotion. I have always felt very safe when meeting a Gaiety guy. I would not necessarily feel as safe meeting a new guy for the first time, someone who I really didn't know.

 

I do think that we, as responsible consumers, should ask (some) questions and should not just blindly say yes; we should resist the upward spiralling on costs for privates. I do think that there are some guys who are probably worth 250 (at least compared to a standard of 200). It's not the additional 50 bucks that bothers me, it's more the principle. 200 dollars is plenty! If someone insists on 250 or more, I just move on. It's even more outrageous with some of the local agencies, where the cost is 300 and that's for an outcall. At least with Gaiety boys, you have the ability to do an incall (best to make sure the guy has no roommate)

 

I still believe that privates are EXTREMELY chemistry oriented. I might hit it off really well with one guy while someone else doesn't or visa versa. I think the comfort level of both parties significantly impacts the quality of the encounter. I value the opinions of those who post here and use them as a good but not definitive barometer of the quality of the experience.

I have not paid more than $200 for a Gaiety private and always has been no less than 60 minutes in length. Why would someone pay $200 if the Gaiety dancer's roomrate interrupts the session much earlier than that? One time last September I arranged a private for $150 because the dancer had only about 45 minutes until he had to be back to stroke/dance. His going rate is $200 otherwise so you can negotiate if less time is involved. But besides asking questions about the scope of the private I recommend that you insist on full length of time before arranging the private. And at this time, I would NOT agree to pay $250 for a private!

 

By the way, Cooper and NYO: As of now I am scheduled to arrive back in NYC on April 3rd. Hope to meet you all at the Friday night 6:15 show that weekend. So, I will be anxious to read the reviews of the Monday show for that week.

It's funny that for a time dancers were not allowed to discuss in the lounge what they would offer in a private show. It was when a few of the dancers were arrested by under-cover cops and Denise was worried about having the place shut down. Any discussions about sex had to take place outside the theater. Now it's necessary to get a laundry list from the dancers so you don't get ripped off. I sure miss the old days when the private shows were not only cheaper but a lot more fun. I often wonder what kind of discussions these dancers have with each other. Do they sit in the dressing room bragging how lttle they did to make $250? Next they'll have a union! Imagine the picket line outside the theater and the signs they could carry. That could be fun.

Gaiety posters, what's your take on this. It seems that a week doesn't go by without a newbie poster starting a thread asking for details on the private show of a G-dancer. Then, you never hear from that "member" again. Is this just self-promotion? Had the chance to catch the 6pm show on Thursday in the midst of the protests in Times Square. The paths to the Gaiety were blocked at many a turn but I was determined that I would not be denied.

There were only 4 of us in the audience for most of the time. Each dancer emerged from behind the curtain and got this expression of surprise to see so few people in the audience. For most of the show only a few of us were even up close to the stage. I would actually sit ON stage if that were allowed. TJ nailed the situation when he commented "Wow, its like you get a private dance".

Wonder how hard it is to do the show with so little an audience to work ....
