I've noticed that the reviews here have very simple links for some rentboy profiles, for example, [a href=http://www.rentboy.com/youngcouple]http://www.rentboy.com/youngcouple[/a], or [a href=http://www.rentboy.com/RaulGManzo]http://www.rentboy.com/RaulGManzo[/a].

I'm wondering how these simple links are found/created from the information on rentboy.

I'd bet the escort creates (and pays for) the "special" link, because I've seen a number of them that have expired while the escort is still listed.

Presumably, the escort provides the link to clients who then pass it on in reviews.

I don't think the escort has to pay anything beyond the regular cost of his ad to get such a link. On the page where I control my ad it gives my link as http://www.rentboy.com/KEVINSLATER10 . I don't use it simply because I hate the "10" at the end of it. (I assume 1 was from my old San Francisco ad, 2 was some ad when I traveled to another city, 3 was when I first upgraded to the mid-tier pages, etc.) That a link dies while the escort is still listed implies that he's done something to change his ad location or maybe working name or credit card info or the like.

If the escort doesn't publish it, I doubt it'd be easy to guess his 'simple' link because you wouldn't know if it ended with /JohnDoe or /JDoe17 or /JohnDPhilly.

Below is a rehash of how to post a working link to someone's rentboy ad:

Bring up the escort's full ad (not just the page that lists him with all the other guys). Right click on his ad (not the border text that has ads for other rentboy features or porn sites).

If you use IE, select Properties. If you use Firefox, select This Frame, then View Frame Info.

A window will pop up which gives the address (URL) for that frame, in my case

http://www.rentboy.com/location/getrb.asp?rentboy=41337&Location=229&speciality=Rentboy&keywords=&modifiedDT=&page=18&only_available=0%200

You want to copy just part of that text, the part that goes up to location=xxx. So don't copy the part that starts with &speciality=...

The result is

http://www.rentboy.com/location/getrb.asp?rentboy=41337&Location=229

You can paste that here (or anywhere) and it should work swimmingly.

Kevin --

Thanks for the information on why I'm unlikely to be able to find the "simple" link myself, and for the rehash in a convenient place of how to post a rentboy link.

The question presented itself because the kinds of rentboy links we can access are not accepted in Daddy's review submission form -- they give an error message. I was hoping the "simple" link might work there.

Based on Kevin's information, I did a little experimenting. It seems that the "simple" rentboy link is [a href=http://www.rentboy.com/escortname###]http://www.rentboy.com/escortname###[/a], where "escortname" is the name used on the profile, with spaces omitted (so KevinSlater), and ### is a number. If the name is unique, you may not even need a number, like RaulGManzo. If you've got time on your hands and are persistent, you can just try numbers in sequence until you find the guy you're looking for.

Beware! There can be many unused numbers as well numbers that link to inactive profiles in between numbers corresponding to active profiles. (If you click on the link in the previous paragraph, you'll see what an unused number produces.) For one name I chose, I had to go up to 148 before I hit the guy I was looking for. You do hit on some interesting profiles while you're searching :-).

THANK TOU! (and Kevin!)

I assumed the escort had to set it up because not everyone has 'em, or so I thought. RB makes it so deucedly difficult to *get* the right URL, I assumed it was so they could sell the shorter version to you guys.
