Safari for Windows

downloading the beta Safari for Windows. Curious if any other Windows users have downloaded it and has any feedback to share.

I hear it's horribly buggy, to the point of being barely usable. They issued their first update within a week of releasing it. It isn't being received well among people who's opinions I trust, and reliability is only one of the reasons.

 

I have ENOUGH misbehaving software on my system already, thank you. :9

My day job has loaned me a mac laptop,

and I use windows on the desk side machine.

 

Sometimes, sites which won't load in firefox

will load in safari or IE, so I'll use all 3,

but I'm wondering what it is about safari

that you especially like that you would want

to use on windows instead of firefox or IE ?

 

(The politics here is that I'm a strong believer

in open source software, and was involved in a

major one where I work - at a public university.

 

The argument advanced by my department is that

by giving software away we would get more contributions

when we rattled the tin cup at industry than

by trying to charge specific prices for software.

 

Paying for *service* contracts to support open

source software I think is also perfectly reasonable).

I'm thinking about making my next laptop a Mac. Thought by getting use to Safari I might have a leg up when making the switch.

 

Firefox is the browser I use most now - and a I have no complaints. I really like some of the nifty plug-ins that you can get for Firefox (my favorite is cooliris).
