Page Rank

Since this is the techie part of the board I'll post my question here. I use the Google tool bar and it works well enough but I've always wondered what is up with the Page Rank thing? Anyone have any knowledge on it?

PageRank is the name for the algorithm that was the original basis of the Google search engine. The idea is to assign a numeric rating to each page that indicates how "important" it is based on how many links there are to that page from other pages. The rating also takes into account the page rank of the linked pages as well, so that a page is rated more highly if it is linked by other highly rated pages.
