Is there any way to stop the huge number of incoming emails with this virus (subject lines involving Details, Your Application, Approved, Wicked Screensaver, That Movie, Thank You, etc.)? I don't mean filtering to shunt them to the Trash - I'm already doing that. And you can't block the sender, because it keeps changing. I mean a way to get out of the loop entirely.

This has been going on for about 3 weeks now, and it's getting kind of tiresome. Overnight I usually get about 15-25 of these, and more during the day, for a total of 30-50 or more per day. And my address is being used to send it to others, since I also get Undeliverable notices. I know that the virus takes addresses from infected computers and uses them both for To and to mimic From, but shouldn't this have died out by now as people disinfect their computers? There was a period of a few days about a week ago when the number seemed to be tapering off and went down to about 10-12/day, but then it jumped up again higher than before.

The virus is *not* on my computer and never has been (it's a Mac, and I don't download, and I have run virus software), so my address got into the loop from someone else's computer. Most of the From addresses in the beginning were obviously from escorts (many of which I recognized from here, although I have never emailed to them) and escort-related sites (including supposedly from Hooboy@male4malescort.com), but now there is a mix of those and what looks like personal and commercial addresses. The number per day seems to be growing, rather than shrinking.

Any ideas about what is going on here?

Is anyone else still experiencing this? The talk about this virus seems to have died down, suggesting that it is no longer a problem for most people.

Is there any way to get rid of this? How did others get out of the loop, if they did?
