Hey guys,I went out last night to meet some friends at the Spotlight Club in Hollywood(Cahuanga and Selma)-it was almost like the old days!about 20 "boys" were there and the vibe was cool, raunchy and testosterone filled.I will be going back tonight to hook-up with a boy from Georgia who is just out of the marines. It reminded me of the god old days at Hunters(rip)

let's get out and support this place. It is the only "working boy"bar left in LA(well there is Numbers-but I don't have time for the BS that goes on in there)

I'm very familar with the "Spotlight". Yes, it can be fun, but I consider it to be AYOR area. Be very careful and very wary when you play there.

While your reasonably safe in the bar, the area in general has less than savory characters. I strongly recommend that first timers not go there by theirselves. :-(

Hi,yes Daddy is right about the neighborhood being dicey.I would hesitate to label it as AYOR anymore.I find I am more endangered by the Hollywood Brats careening around corners in their SUVs than by the street trash! This area is now teeming with "young hollywood"nightspots-Beauty Bar,The HotelCafe,The Burgundy Room,Key Club, etc,,,

While this is not West Hollywood(home to 3 gay bashings last month)it is not the dark heart of Hollywood that it used to be.

I find Polk Street in SF to be more unsafe than the corner of Cahuanga and Selma theese days.

Hope to see you all there!

Based on this thread I stopped in at Spotlight Satuday night about midnight. Nothing worth going in for IMHO! NOT crowded. Nothing at all attractive. The area didn't look any better or worse than it always has.;(

Hi Jockoluver, yeah I was surprised by the lack of talent at the spotlight on saturday night(although my"friend"-known hussey that he is-scooped the marine from Georgia out from under my nose)there were a few guys hanging around though. Now please guys understand, the type of boy you are going to find here is basic street trade, with an ocassional beauty wandering in(grab those quick)They are RARELY model quality.

My purpose in keeping this post active is a little selfish.I enjoy hangig out in a bar with the chance of meeting a young guy for some fun.I cannot aqfford most of the boys at Numbers or who run ads in frontiers or on this site regurally. Thus I have an vested interest in keeping the patronage of "The Lovely Spotlight Club" on an upswing.

If you, like I,want to keep the tradition of the "Hustler Bar"alive please support this dive.

By the way their motto is"a crummy place"hmmmm.Truth in advertising!

I too have frequented The Spotlight recently, after a 10 year absence. It was trashy as ever and yes, sometimes that is just what I am in the mood for. The boys however are just too "street" for my tastes. If you have a sense of humor it can be fun for sight seeing. I haven't yet witnessed the occasional beauty wandering in.

It's just so extreme here in LA. Numbers or Spotlight. $300-250 boys or $60 street druggies with missing teeth. Isn't there someplace in between these two extremes? Personally, I need to talk to a guy first to see if it's going to work for me. I need more than a pic or a body part to really be attracted to a working boy. A bar is the perfect place to see if there's going to be any chemistry or not. There must be some middle of the road kind of place in a city this size. Right?

Hi guys, yes we used to have a place in between the Spotlight and Numbers,Hunters(rip). It closed due to an incredebly pompous owner(hail brittania indeed)who thought it silly to keep up permits and play ball with the local politicos. This jerk made a lot of money on this club in the early days-and then fell into an that alcoholic phenom known as "the biggest little shit in the world".

Theese days, some of the huntrs crowd goes to the gold coast,or the 77702.These are both hit and miss.

If any of you Daddies would like to make some $$$ you might want to consider opening a place to fill the void left by the demise of hunters.

I can't believe people on this thread get so sniffy about The Spotlight. This thread is supposed to be about street hustlers, not glossy call boys. The Spotlight has been a street hustler bar for as long as I can remember, which is a pretty damn long time. Is it dicey? Is it a little dangerous? You bet it is, and that is what makes it such an exciting place. For my money, The Spotlight is a national treasure, one of only a few such establishments still to be found in this great land of ours. When you want to take a walk on the wild side, The Spotlight can't be beat. Just settle in at the bar, get friendly with a bartender, listen to (or put up some money in) one of the best juke boxes in town, knock back some drinks, and be ready to pounce when that perfect piece of street trash presents himself for your delectation.

SNIFF\'snif\vb 1:to draw air audibly up the nose 2:to show disdain or scorn 3:to detect by or as if by smelling. Sniffy queens are not likely to find a comfortable home at The Spotlight.

I live next to the Spotlight... the neighborhood is very safe, the area is fine, but the Spotlight is no place to meet guys, well at least cute guys. Every once in a great while a cute out-of-towner will find himself there only because of the obvious rainbow flag they painted above the door. But if you do not want to waste your time don't bother.

Wellllllll,I do hate to disagree with Joey,as I adore his sites and his parties,I have seen porn star-hookers in the spotlight on occassion. From major-Billy Brandt,Chad Donovan-to minor-Ritchie Fine,Bobby Golden,Johnny Thrust. So please don't toatally dismiss the Spotlight club totally. It does have it's moments of faded glory.
