One update to the original list.

Well, Ted, I haven't been to see you and you probably don't want to hear why. I am sure you are wonderful, and I am pretty sure I would like you a lot if I met you. But I think the reason for the falloff in business is simple economics.

 

You advertise a massage for 1 hour for $150 and $200 for 2 hours.

 

Now I know that the leading lights on hooBoy almost always support the onward-and-upward policy on escort and massage rates here, but let this be a voice in the wilderness. You charge too much. There is a point beyond which only the truly rich will venture for any experience. To be truthful, $150 an hour will buy one an hour from one of the best lawyers, doctors, financial advisors, etc. in NYC. I mean people who can shake the world. Are you really on that level? After I get a good massage and a good release, what is there of lasting value?

 

This is not personal. It is aimed at the escort/massage community in general. I love the escort community. I love a great massage. But perspective is also important. If the business is tapering off, maybe the expectations are too high.

 

An example. I am in Montreal this week. I can have a wonderful 10 minutes with the boy of my dreams at the Campus for $20. He leaves me feeling wonderful. I could spend $200 for a single hour of the time of a truly wonderful dancer I have met at the Campus and have that special attention I want. OR I can spend that $200 for a whole evening of wonderful dining with friends at a great restaurant. For $500 (two and a half hours) I can buy a magnificent and significant Inuit sculpture which will only appreciate in value and be of lasting significance. There are choices.

Yes, I think the 'smart money' people are holding their money until the election, if there is one. I've cut back on my expeditures.

I've spoken with a "madame" of sorts, he says his business is way - off compared to last year at this time. Think BigMstr4you is also right, you are charging too much.

I'm not a masseur, but here's my two cents:

Offer a special summer rate, say through Labor Day. As August progresses decide if the new rate works (for you, for the clients, whatever). If it does, simply drop the "special summer" and incorporate it as your new rate.

NEW YORK – Maybe it was the high gasoline prices, maybe the cool weather. Whatever the reason, consumers seem to have slowed down their buying last month - a trend that, if it continues, could have an adverse effect on the economy.

In fact, some economists believe the consumer pause is already acting as something of a brake on the economy, even as the Federal Reserve Board begins to tighten.

"We are slowing down a little bit," says Paul Kasriel, an economist at Northern Trust Company in Chicago. "But, as far as we can tell, there is no indication the economy is falling off a cliff."

 

In what may be a sign of a slowing economy, the Labor Department reported last Friday that the economy generated only 112,000 new jobs in June, down from 235,000 in May. This may be one reason why more Americans in surveys continue to say jobs are harder to find. As consumers feel more confident about the job market, they are more willing to spend.

YES Charge less and say it is a summer special booked a day in advance. Then you know a day early what business will be like. See if this helps (but the drop should be to $100 hr NO MORE and maybe even less for your slowest hrs.

The economy SUCKS... prices have gone way up... and there is only so much money to go around. I know that it has greatly pressured me....
