Small country, small scene. You'll do better across the river in Buenos Aires (where some of the guys you see advertising are Uruguayans making it in the big city). MVD has a few gay bars/clubs, some late night cruising on the main drag and around Plaza Cagancha, etc. You may find escorts advertising in the classifieds of the main newspaper, El País. Look for headings like "Acompañantes," "Relax," "Masajes," etc.

 

The city itself is attractive and the people very nice. There aren't many tourist attractions, but you can certainly spend a couple of days there very pleasantly. You might be able to make some local contacts checking out the Uruguay listings on http://www.Gaydar.co.uk
