Planning my next trip to Rio in early May...any suggestions...? Hope the weather is still fine. Is Eduardo still "the guide to call upon"..? Really like to stay at the Royal Rio again but open to better ideas.

Anyone going at the same time...?

In theory the weather should be nice in May (not too hot) but this year it's been unseasonably hot all through April. Summer was relatively cool and rainy, which is unusual here. Now we're having the Southern Hemisphere version of a scorching Indian Summer! So be prepared for everything.

Little has changed in Rio, where bars and businesses tend to be open for years. Everything you know is still valid, except that the Incontrus disco (a few doors away from Corujinha) has closed permanently. Otherwise, it's the same places and the same cast of characters you know and love! :D

As for hotels, unless you want to pay considerably more for the likes of the Marriott or Copacabana Palace, you're unlikely to do much better than the Royal Rio for price and amenities. Of course, if you want to be more conveniently located, the tried-and-true Atlântico Copacabana continues to greet M4Mers with mostly open arms! At the Atlântico you'll be within a block or two of Estação, Roger's and Point 202 saunas, and across the street from the Metro station, where a quick ride will drop you within a block of Club 117. It's also only 3 blocks or so to Corujinha or the Citibank ATM.
