I was there last week for a week, and remembered so well how much I'd enjoyed it 15 years ago! Just a few observations: there seemed to be lots of young Mexican guys available at the beach, but they were mostly twinks and didn't interest me. Obviously then I can't tell you much about the arrangements.

My hotel (Descanso del Sol) was great, with a roof top bar which got lots of guys from other hotels over to watch the sunset. A few masseurs usually showed up at the bar then too, though one guy I met at our hotel assured me the massage he had was 'legitimate'. I'm not sure whether that's true or true of all the guys, but they were spectacular looking.

I found the best places for muscle escorts were among the strippers at the Bars (Paco Paco, Anthropology and Los Balcones). I met Roger, really the most muscled guy there, who either would do private shows $40 or go back to your hotel for $100. He had a wild body and was well worth it.

How was the food and the beach? I went to Acapulco several years ago and hated it. The beach was full of beggers, starving horses for rent, and wasn't clean. As far as food, it was horrible everywhere. The Hotel (Acapulco Princess) was nice, but also had lousy food. Is Puerto Vallarta significantly different?

There were actually no beggars there, but lots of people selling items on the beach, thought that was not a nuisance. The food was wonderful and is available in every type and price range.

I've never been to Acapulco, though people I met who've been to both prefer Puerto Vallarta. And there is much more gay life there too.

I have been to ACA and Puerto V, last year, and PV is definately the preferred destination, if you like gay mecca´´s full of twink lovers.

Meaning an older crowd. Many Canadians and Eastern US folks, but TOO gay for me to listen to all afternoon at the beach.

The strip bars are OK. The Anthology was so dark and SOOOO loud, that was hard to see the dancers, and a deafening sound system making impossilbe to order a drink or talk to anyone.

ACApulco was dirty, dangerous and well past it´s prime of the 1970s- and maybe 80s, unless you stay way out by airport at higher prices. Not my cup of tea, so to speak. You had to watch your back at all times.

  • 1 year later...

i am here right now, in the heat of july. i find it dirty, and keep wondering why i came here. the stripper bar antropolagy is fine, you can take a boy to the basement for 500p. which is around 45$ and you get 15 min. with him.

the blue chairs is over rated, and the gay beach is nothing to write home about.

i did get stoped by the police, and patted down for drugs. i will never come back here, be warned, this is not a gay meca, and i am upset with everyone that has posted here saying how wonderful it is.

the last thing i need is to be patted down, stoped on the street for no reason, they told me "someone had told them i had drugs on me" it was not a very nice thing to happen, and they kept asking me, where i was coming from, and where i was going to. they checked all my pockets, and still patted me down. be warned, don't come here.

The High season must be over!

But I was not impressed in the peak Spring season, as well.

The anthology was so badly light it was inmpossible to see any dancers because the lights were shining in your eyes from every dirrection.

Acapulco

The Acapulco of today is no comparison to what it was in the 80's, but it's still one of the best cruising grounds in all of Mexico, from what I've seen and experienced (Mexico City's the absolute best in the country). Acapulco is the vacation spot of choice for Mexicans and because it's so close to Mexico City (a 4 hour drive by car, 4.5 by bus) it draws lots of gays looking to party on the weekend and at the holiday periods. But if you're looking for lots of gay bars and a big gay concentration in just one area, you won't find it. The young hustlers have been chased out of ACA by the police and are now, for the most part, working Vallarta during the busy times of the year. That leaves guys who actually live in ACA who are available for playing with, together with the folks from Mexico City. And don't forget the large number of sailors based in ACA - often looking to play around. ACA has lots of beaches and some additional beaches nearby that compare favorably with Vallarta. I find the city clean and the water fine. If you don't speak Spanish and if you don't particularly like to be surrounded by Mexicans who are having a good time, then ACA isn't for you. For people who want to visit Mexico, there are places for every taste - more than just Vallarta and ACA.
