Hey Luvinit! I am actually going to be in Rio from the 22nd through the first, too! I can't wait to hop on the plane and take off, actually. Its my first trip to anyplace south of Florida. I am staying with a couple of friends of mine who have both been to Rio several times, so I am sure that I will hang out with them most of my trip. But, if you wanna shoot me an email, maybe we can meet up at some point while we are both there.

 

The same goes for any other Hoovillians out there who may be in Rio for X-mas/New Year's. I would love to meet up with a few guys from M4M who know their way around Brazil!

Corujinha, at the corner of r. Hilário de Gouveia and Praça Serzedelo Correia (halfway between Av. Copacabana and Av. Atlântica on Hilário) has become the unofficial M4M headquarters in Rio. Starting around 10:00 - 10:30 p.m., after the saunas have wound down, you'll almost always find any M4Mers who are in town hanging out, exchanging views and gossip, and eyeing the guys hanging around the place hoping for a last-minute client!

 

This is a good hour for the nightlife-lovers, because there's time to relax, have a snack and some drinks, shoot the breeze, and still have plenty of time to head to the clubs, which don't get going until midnight (at the earliest).

 

Not sure who's going to be in town yet over Xmas, but I know of at least ten or twelve who'll be here, so it's a pretty sure bet you'll run into the M4Mers if you hit the saunas and Corujinha while you're here.

 

Christmas is very much a family holiday in Brazil. Many businesses will close early on Christmas Eve so workers have time to get home to the traditional family dinner. A lot of places will be closed that evening. Pretty much everything except some restaurants and movie theaters will be closed on Christmas Day. The saunas may open later in the afternoon, but you should check first before going to one of the more distant places like 117 or Spa 73.

 

Being in a foreign place on your own on a major holiday like Xmas can be a bit depressing, even in Rio! You might want to make plans with other M4Mers you meet to have Xmas dinner together at one of the hotels like the Marriott, which will have festive traditional meals (although they may be more traditionally Brazilian than American). You might want to make reservations ahead of time if you want to dine at peak periods, or if a group of you plans to go together. I'm not able to organize this, as I have other plans. But the Marriott, if that's where you decide to go, is very easy to work with on reservations if you need a large table.

Holy Big Bucks, Batman! 7K for an airline ticket to Rio?!?! I sure am glad that I purchased mine a couple of months ago. It was still more than I was hoping for, but it was more like 1K, not 7!!

 

And, Jack, you don't have to travel all the way to Rio to meet little 'ol me..... I only live a couple blocks away from you. You know, head east out of LA, then go a little northeast for a while, and before you know it, Bingo! You are in DC! Its just a quick little trip! At least compared to going to Rio, that is.... :p

Yeah, it's the last minute thing that gets you with airfare every time. I paid a little over $900 when I went down in October but I had reserved 2 months in advance.

As for going a few blocks east, it's funny, I always route through Dulles whenever I travel. I think next time I need to do a layover. I'll go a few blocks east if you can travel a few blocks west and meet me out at one of the hotels near the airport?

 

Have a blast in RIO. Say hi for me to the other M4Mers that you meet up with.

It is Christmas eve and here I am in Rio. I went to Corujinas last night but did not manage to meet up with any other M4Mers. I stayed for a couple of beers and then headed next door to Incontrus. Those of you who know me know that I like to make a spectacle of myself on the dance floor and last night was no exception. The show at the club was quite interesting, if you consider buff muscle boys showing it big time interesting. I consider that quite interesting, tie me down =:)

 

I would like to meet up with the other M4Mers, either for Christmas or after. If there is a time and place where you all will be together, let me know and I will be there. You can reach me through email at rapaz59@yahoo.com.

Hammerdude, yeah, I wish you were here. As for sleeping together, let me clarify for the other readers. Hammer and I were watching a Lakers game on a king sized bed and I dozed off. Hehehe, dude careful with my rep.

 

Still looking to meet other M4Mers. I stayed for several nights at Atlantico but it was real quiet there, guess because of Christmas.
