Advise on Fortaleza pls

Dear all,

I would greatly appreciate it to get any advise on Fortaleza: where to stay, which beach to go, the sauna scene and any other info -- I hear it is so beautiful and well worth the trip.

Don't know about the sauna scene in Fortaleza (it's 30 degrees C in the winter!) but there are abundant hotels along the coast on Avenida Beira Mar in the Mucuripe and Mereiles districts. Beaches are all over the city. The locals use the beach along Avenida Beira Mar but I highly recommend Praia do Futuro which is accessible by public bus (Gran Circular 1). Next to Praia do Futuro is Praia Caca e Pesca (also accessible on same Gran Circular 1 bus) and Sabiaguaba. If you're bored, just take this bus and you will have a nice and cheap tour of the city.

 

There is a gay club called Divino (I think) but it's not in a nice district. If you're into eye candy, then head out to Beach Park and check out the lifeguards. The undercurrent on this beach goes sideways so there is no danger of being pulled in deep waters.
