Men/Men sex in Costa Rica vs. Brazil

I read a recent thread from one of our own about Brazil versus Costa Rica on the sex front. This is an attempt to explain the differences in the two.

 

I have never been to Brazil but travel to Costa Rica often. From what I read here about Brazil, the gay "pick-up" scene is different than that of Costa Rica. Brazil, from what I have read, is more like what we consider to be an escort scene.

 

In CR you will find few, if any, escorts/hustlers in saunas or clubs. The boys, except for dancers, would be insulted to be thought of as such. It is easy to pick someone up at a club and take him to your hotel for the night. Pride is an important thing and you may give a gift, but, you are not "paying" him for his services. You should give him something like $35 to $50 US dollars, but this is considered to be something to help out and not an outright fee. A cab ride home is nice so if you feel particularly generous you should ask him how much that will cost. Not more than $5.00.

 

The dancers in Puchos and the other dance bars are for hire and you will have to negotiate in advance. Some are fine, fine & fine. But so are many of the other patrons of the places such as Deja Vu and La Avispa. Why pay for a dancer when you can pick up a "friend".

 

A sauna pick-up in CR is much like in the US. They are not usually guys for hire. It is not like the Brazilian sauna activities described in this thread. Guys in CR saunas are just looking for a sexual encounter. I've never seen any exceptional studs in a sauna in CR.

 

There are hustlers to be found in the parks around the downtown area.

 

I hope this gives a better understanding of the Costa Rica sex scene.

There's a vast non-escort gay scene in Brazil, both in saunas and elsewhere. It's been mentioned here, but since this is primarily a site devoted to escorts it's been given somewhat short shrift. But there is a full array of bars, discos, clubs, beaches, saunas, etc. for non-commercial socializing and hook-ups.

As a matter of fact there are far many more non-escort saunas than escort saunas in Brasil.

 

And if in Costa Rica you're expected to give US$ 35.00-50.00 as a gift, it isn't much different than paying an escort, the only difference is that in Brasil the escorts will set for less in the saunas: R$ 50.00, and will ask a "higher" gift if they have to go to your place or spend the night with you.

 

After all the escort scene isn't so different than it's in Brasil, it's just a bit more expensive...
