Thought Fortaleza was a vibrant, beautiful, and fun city. Stayed in the Meireles district - two blocks off the beach in a 20 room pousada run by a very kind and accomodating German hotelier - Wagner. It was the Sunflower Pousada on Silva Paulet. make sure and ask for one of the hugh end rooms - they have a full dining table and two very large beds - quite spacious. There are no beach views so if you want to be right on the beach try Holiday Inn of one of the other 30 large chains with a beach presence - altho the sunflower is only 2 min from beach and overnight guests are welcome. They will get your guests ID and telephone you before he leaves the premises.

 

Wagner will give you up to date info and there is internet access. he would like to do more business with gays so if you contact him - make sure and let him know you are gay and we sent you.

 

The sauna scene midweek was dismal but I could imagine that this place might be better on weekends. The sauna we spent 3 nights at was Apollo Bad Boys Rua Rodrigo Junior 1425 Fone (85) 252 4289. It was pretty dark and grotty but there were some good looking boys there. I met a tall military policeman (beware of boys who keep their clothes on - they might be hiding a lack of "personality" such as Rodrigo did. The fee varies from 35 to 40R altho they will try to ask for more. The bartenders at Apollo were all available and I had a nice introduction to amour de cabino from one of them.

 

Floridarobb had a great looking guy from Natal over to the hotel that he met at the sauna. He was from natal and on his way to

recife. According to him natal, belem have great saunas and more good looking boys than Salvador.

 

The street cruising scene is alive in Fortaleza - just stroll the Ideal Diarios Meirles nautico between the atheletic fields on the beach to the East and the Holiday Inn to the west between 9 and 11PM.

There are many boys walking - high caliber looking. Lots of boys at stop to watch the guys playing football or volleyball on the three well lit, very busy at night playing fields. The beachfront scene there is so active and vibrant til past midnight - many strollers, joggers, and at least 30 beachfront bar/hut thingies. The rodizio on the beach had remarkable food and sells ice cream.

 

They start setting up the huge open air market ab out 2PM and lots of great leather for cheap.

I was at Beach Park in July and enjoyed watching the life guards. Did you ever go to Divine on Gral Sampaio? There's supposedly another gay club on Praia de Iracema but no one seems to know where it is.

 

Jericoacoara is another fun place (6 hour bus ride). Lots of Paulistas and young & horny Dutch boys!
