Porto Alegre:

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

Went to Porto Alegre without high expectations. I had read in Spartacus that there was a bar where the waiters served in the nude…this piqued my interest…turned out that they didn’t, at least on the night I was there (Indiscretus). Went to Plataforma sauna, which everyone (boys and locals) told us was the best. Weather was kind of chilly but ok for us northerners. On the 1st night at Plataforma we explained to the reception guy that it was our 1st time there…he called upstairs and had someone come down to give us a tour…very friendly and helpful boy (not my type though) not only gave a tour but I had questions about indiscretus so he telephoned them to find their new address (spartacus had old listing) and what night I should go.

The cabins weren’t anything like Rio saunas; none had A/C or showers, only shower out in the hallway. Down where the cabins were was very cruisy with the boys…in Rio most of the talent hangs around the bar area…. here they would circulate upstairs and if you didn’t show interest right away they would disappear downstairs to watch porno’s and keep hard, there was a TV in the hallway outside the cabins showing porno so I picked up a guy then on the way inside the cabin decided I saw someone I like even more so I invited him also for a 3-way.

The entry was 20 and according to the locals boys would be 30 and maximum 40 if he was incredible…cabins were 15. The food and service were incredible, better than in Rio believe it or not (at least the food, Rio service is good but here was better)

Went to disco Era uma vVez (Rua Pereira Franco, 68 Sao Joao tel 3337-0544. Disco with ½ hustlers (mostly from saunas) and ½ gay clients…this disco has cabins…I picked someone up (I don’t remember who…. Bacardi effect) and went to a cabin, had a good time.

I met a very nice Moreno guy while there named Mikael (not many Moreno’s here), he was using his cousins car and drove us to the hotel picked us up the next day to take us to the sauna took us to the disco, McDonald’s after the disco (he use to work there so he knew a lot of people) this was a hopping night as there were many young couples (straight) hanging out…he knew a lot of them and then drove us back to the hotel.

All in all I like Porto Allegre very much and wouldn’t hesitate to return for a long weekend perhaps during an extended stay in Rio…the people were extremely friendly and helpful, hotel staff very accommodating didn’t get a chance to see much of the tourist sights, seemed like a business city to me. Also weekends are considerably busier than weekdays.

GULLIVERS REPORT

Since this is not an oceanfront city, it feels very different from Rio. However, I agree with Rob that it would be a great place to visit for a long weekend. I give the sauna an A in terms of being a worthwhile place to visit. The upstairs bar has a fireplace burning on cold nights and about 11 tables for four set up. Nice atmosphere. Full windowed showers which the boys use to show their wares (constantly) which is even busier than Sao Paulo’s Lagoa shower!! The locals and the program boys were very welcoming to us – kind of made a big deal of our visit and went out of the way to help us with advice, phone numbers, transportation. There is usually a card game and dominos going in the adjacent lounge to the bar area and also continuous pool playing. There are three lounges connected upstairs – the bar and dining, the pool lounge, and a separate game room with tables for just talking.

The guys were sizzling hot in my estimation and equal to the scene in Rio although different. Lots of students and fewer professional bodybuilder types. Heavy Germanic influence on looks. All were very friendly and slightly less aggressive than their northern counterparts.

One thing to note, the food here was absolutely the best I had in a sauna and includes many specialties. I would eat dinner here at night if I were going for a weekend. They make a sandwich plate of four different types of sandwiches cut into smaller pieces. They feature a courazon (chicken heart) sandwich which was great.

It is very very easy to pick your escort of choice here as the downstairs (where the video room and the cabins are) is dark and the boys hang out there. Less picking up in the bar area and more in the hall. I probably had more action here per night than I have anywhere else in Brazil. This was the sauna where Floridarobb and I first glimpsed “elephant man” a short, well built young Germanic descendent who when he casually adjusted his towel while showering showed an endowment over a foot!! Yours truly almost choked on his chicken heart sandwich at that moment and immediately left the dining are to recover in the downstairs hallway – what a find!!

He must be related to the guy I would later meet in recife that FR and I nicknamed Moo due to the fact that he had the balls of a bull.

In regards to the bar, Era Uma Vez – I would give it a high recommendation as a kind of wild experience. There is an outdoor area to get away from the main room which features strippers. There are many hot men there – local guys not as polished as their sauna counterparts. And since there are cabins upstairs, you can sample whatever you live withour going back to your hotel.

The Coral Plaza hotel where we stayed was great. No problems with boys, good neighborhood, attentive staff, great breakfast, nice rooms and suites. I would not bother searching for any other.

I probably would not bother with any of the other bars or saunas here as talking with the locals seems to indicate that these two are the highlights.
