We are off on a month tour. Carlo Romanus has arranged hotels, have the Varig air pass, and he has given us up to date lists of saunas with rentboys and all the bars. Floridarob, Robbguy, Tomcal, and a few other posters will be along for part of the month.

Have found info on this site for the other destinations but if any posters have any specific recommendatons for

PORTO ALLEGRE. SALVADOR, RECIFE, FORTALEZA, BRAZILIA, BELO HORIZANTE

such as the best night or a specific sauna, or a local escort, or any sight or restaurant that we should not miss we will put the information to good use.

Porto Alegre: Try the churrasco at Galpão Crioulo if you're there on a weekend. They have a terrific folklore show with Gaucho dancing (sort of cossack-style) with incredible feats of skill with the bolas (two stone balls at each end of a long rope that the gauchos use in the way American cowboys use lassos).

Salvador: Be sure to eat the first night at the SENAC restaurant in the Pelourinho for their famous buffet of Bahian food. Everything's marked so you know what all the exotic dishes are, and it's a good way to get acquainted with a fascinating cuisine. On some nights, later in the week, the restaurant also puts on a folklore show, and sometimes some of the cute guys in the show are hanging around afterwards hoping to make new friends. . . Another night try Maria Mata-Mouros, also in the Pelourinho, for a fine meal that wouldn't be out of place in New York or any other major city.

BH: Can't remember the name, but there's a famous place that has buffet style typical Minas food. I think it's listed in the Quatro Rodas guide. Also check to see if Tavares is still around; it's famous for specializing in game.

Remember to invest in a Quatro Rodas guide (buy it at any newstand) for lists of restaurants, hotels and attactions in hundreds of Brazilian cities. It's done like the Michelin guides, with symbols and stars, so even though it's in Portuguese you won't find it difficult to use at all.
