Hey Guys, I'm definitely looking forward to our October get together. In the meantime, I've got some free time in August that I'm trying to fill. I'm thinking of a combination Rio/Buzios trip, taking a Rio guy with me for a few days in Buzios. I'm definitely open to hotel/inn recommendations for there.

Have any of you taken a sauna contact with you out of town on a trip? I've met lots of Rio guys, but so far havent met anyone that I'd take out of town with me. What would be a reasonable rate for a two night trip?

I'm going to start in Rio for a few days and end up in Buzios, so I'll have a few days to make some Rio contacts. I'm open to considering one of the agency guys but I'd look for someone like Carlos to negotiate the rate. Maybe he'd be able to help with hotel, too. Rio is fantastic, but after four trips, a side excursion might be fun. Just dont want to do it alone.

I totally understand that you don't want to go alone, but I think you have to pick the boy yourself. It's just chemistry, and language, after all. If you speak even a little Portuguese, it will be much easier to find a guy willing to go off with you for a couple of days. If you don't speak a common language, even a bit, then it can get real boring real quick. As to fee, I'd say that you pay all the expenses--definitely arrange everything through Carlo Romano who speaks perfect English--and about R$250 a day. Some might think that's high, but you can't really negotiate this, and he is missing the opportunity to earn money in Rio. And, for what it's worth, I think this is a great way to see Brazil. In fact, I'm planning a trip to Iguacu Falls with my Brazilian beau right now! SF Traveler

I would venture that R$250 for a sauna guy is a bit high. Considering that the guys I've been seeing are very happy with R$100 for an overnight, I'd say R$150 - 200 would be more reasonable. Plus all expenses of course. I certainly wouldn't offer more than R$500 for an entire long weekend (3 or 4 days).

Please keep remembering that R$225 is the minimum MONTHLY wage in Brazil, so even at the lower rate your companion will be earning at least two minimum wages over the course of a few days! Also, unless he's exceedingly popular, your companion can't bank on earning that much back at the saunas in the same period of time, especially during low season.

Gulliver, I spoke to Florida Robb yesterday and he filled me in on the schedule, we all will be arriving at the same time and leaving the same. I just spoke to Liz at Atlantico today to reconfirm the Aug. 5th - 11th dates and my room(I like 701, has so many memories!! LOL )

Breno had wanted to pick me up in his truck and go to Buzios for 2-3 days on this trip, but i decided not to for a couple of reasons. Its' a resort town, not much to do there in the off season(or inseason unless you are in the the diving, sailing, suntanning)and Aug is not great snorkling/diving time for there. Secondly, Breno speaks no English, which is fine if you are together for just an overnight, but 24/7 for 3 days, I think there would be alot of silent time! Great romantic getaway if you are in love, I am, just that it's with about 50 of the boys!!(OK, before you say it I will, about 100 of the boys! lol)

Well, Tomcal, Breno has REALLY been looking forward to this escape to Búzios (after you left he kept asking me forlornly when you were coming back, like by asking repeatedly you might return sooner). You seem to have made a BIG impression on Breno, if you get my drift, so if you're going to stand him up on Búzios it'd be a good idea to plan something else fun with him to make it up. To be honest, I'm not sure he was planning to be in Rio in August, at all, except because you were going to be there. It's ordinarily the depths of the low season, and I think he was otherwise planning to spend it back home in Rio Grande do Sul or maybe try his luck in Spain, where it's the high season! So just be aware, because even escorts have hearts. . .

Tri, I still intend on spending a great deal of time with Breno in August, just dont' want to go to Buzios in the Aug. I spoke to him several weeks ago and told him(using 3way calling and Brazilian friend of mine here in L.A.). He still wants to drive up there even if we only go for a day, but I understand it's a 3 hour drive from Rio. So, 6 hours driving and a night there, it may happen but I'd rather go next April when the weather is warmer and more is going on there.

Cool. In August Búzios might be quiet, because it's after the Brazilian winter school holiday, but it's also vacation time for Europeans so there may be some tourists there anyway. I wouldn't sweat the weather too much. It's not likely to be any colder than the frigid 70s. Of course, that would have the Cariocas hauling their furs out of the vaults, but I think you So.Cal. types can probably handle it! And especially with a hot numbah like Breno to help keep you warm. . .

An overnight in Búzios is probably fine, or even a couple of nights. It'd probably get a bit boring after that. Looking forward to the reports. . .
