Ok, just one more thing about the Rio sauna's and then I won't ask any more questions. When one goes in to the sauna, do you pay for your cabin/towel etc. at that time, or can one go into the bar/lounge and have a drink and then if you find someone you like, pay at that time.?

You walk in to the sauna, give the desk clerk your first name and he gives you a Key to a locker, everything is charged to that number, food, drinks, rooms, and you pay when you hand him your key back and he totals the bill for that locker number. The only thing you pay for as "you go along" is the boys. You hand them their money when your session with them is done, usually they follow you back to the locker area from the room and you hand them a $50. Reais note. If you look at Trilinguals authoratative account of "Brazilian Suanas" under the escort review section of this site, under Latin America, it was written I think in 2000, and is still very accurate as far as the details go(with the exception that neither Pointe 202 or Estacio suanas were open yet)

Or, to be more clear, you will pay for admission to the sauna whether or not you undress and use the locker. The sauna makes its money by allowing you into its premises. What you do there once you've been admitted is your own business, but as described you will be charged admission and any bar, massage and/or "cabine" rental fees when you leave. If you go with a guy, you pay him directly AFTER the two of you have done the deed.

 

I haven't done this myself, but it appears from the experience of Tomcal, gulliver and others that it's possible to get in-and-out privileges on the same day, allowing for shuttling back and forth between Estação and Point 202, which are only a few blocks apart.

It is considered good manners to be very discrete about the payment. Fold the bills and press them into his hands when no one is looking, usually in front of your locker. This can happen either immediately after the deed is done or after you and he (separately or together) take a shower.

 

Also, you are expected to decompress with the boy afterwards. Buy him a drink and sit and chat, as well as your Portuguese and his English allow. After the drink you can either stay there and pass time with him or thank him, get up, and continue the hunt.

Yes that's true you can leave and come back and not get charged again for admission on the same night, BUT....the same guy(Junior) owns both of those two saunas, and this was only after they realized what good customers we were! Although is is easy to hop on the metro and the 12 min ride up to 117 and back which I did, first going to 202 from 5:00 to 7:00 then to 117, back to 202 for the show at 9:30.
