Are you asking if the difference between paying $13.50 for an hour with a boy in a sauna in April and paying $17.05 today(current exchange rate as of yesterday)would keep guys from the U.S. from going to the suana's in Rio??.....Let's see how the math works..

Let's say you are planning on doing an average of 4 boys a day at an addditional $3.55 each, = $14.20/day, times a weeks visit, 7 days = $99.40/week or about 1/2 of what a U.S. escort charges for an hour and you have just had...28 hours of sex! I don't know...would be a hard decision...to go or not!!!!!

 

your question regarding overnights has been answered here many times before, bottom line, take the number of times you have sex during the overnight times $50. reias. the Rio guys are not into the hour thing, so an overnight can be from Midnight(after sauna closes and everyone has been to Corujinhas' for food and drink and you have now spotted someone you want to take back to the hotel)and lasts until you wake up. If you have sex when you get back and again when you wake up it would be appropriate to pay $100. reias plus a tip. For a good night a tip of $50 reias would be very good.

The dollar's drop in value is noticeable, but not very much so when you're talking about purchases in the R$50 - R$100 range, which is what an experience with a sauna guy/escort would cost.

 

My recent regular overnights were for R$100 and the guys were perfectly satisfied. If I didn't specifically drag the guy out of the sauna (and possibly to Corujinha's, first) an overnight date at my apartment seemed to begin around 10:00 p.m. Even then, my date may not have had dinner, so we'd go out first for a light meal (pizza or similar).

 

For unusually good (or frequent) experiences, I'd say Tom's extra R$50 tip is probably OK. But please don't make it a practice, or it'll start becoming the regular rate!

 

In spite of the drop in the value of the dollar, Rio seems to be full of foreigners, even in the depths of the off-season. It's becoming a hot destination, it seems, now that so many other places have become unappealing because of war, terrorism, SARS, you-name-it. However, it's not so full that it's distorting prices. Even though the dollar has dropped the euro has strengthened, which makes it much cheaper for visiting EU residents. The real was worth R$3,35 to the euro when I left on Thursday, and has been down to nearly R$3,50 per euro during the past few weeks. By contrast, the dollar has been hovering between R$2,85 and R$3,00. There haven't been any big increases in prices, though. In fact, there's been a recent small drop in inflation and there are even mutters about the danger of deflation, although I'll believe that when I see it and not a moment sooner!

Yesterday a good friend and I discussed the prices of escorts in the U.S. When I began to add up the number of times I've seen an escort in the US and the amount of money expended-- his response was: "That's the costs of tickets to Brasil-- Rio" on more than one occasion!!

I commented the same last Fall after visiting Rio. Not only do you have your tickets and accomadations paid for, you actually get to see/smell and feel the escort prior to the date!

Although Rio is dangerous, there is no bait & switch there when it come to escorts.

One thing I noticed when trying to get the feel for escorts prices in Brazil, is that when I contacted them directly, the prices were very high, but even so cheaper than in the US.

 

I got for the same escort 3 different prices for an all nighter: US$ 300.00 from Apollus, US$ 150.00 when I contacted him directly and 200.00 rieais when I had Carlo from Romanus contact him for me!

 

Another middle-aged escort who posts here charged me US$ 300.00! Therefore my best suggestion is to have somebody who speaks Portuguese to do the contacting for the prices are likely to go down. As for saunas I was told by Carlo that the average ticket is 30-50 rieais.

I booked two boys in Sao Paulo through Abusado and I am paying 200 rieias for an allnighter... In the USA that would be impossible!

As you pointed out, rates vary, especially depending on your ability to speak Portuguese and negotiate for yourself, and whether you go through an agency. However, based on other reviews on this site, even US$300 is cheap for an overnight compared to prices north of the Equator. However, it's possible to spend considerably less. Consider inviting one of the sauna boys you like to stay over with you. Rates for that in Rio would be R$100. Rates in SP should be similar. You can tip an extra R$20 for "cab fare" if the guy is extra-special.

Definitely go without the middle guy. I met a boy in SP whom I might bring to the US and he was a fraction of what it would cost to go through the agency. He, by the way, was getting more from me than he netted from the agency.
