I travel to Brazil frequently during the winter months but have never been during US summer. How does the westher compare? Will there still be many people at resorts such as Parati? Thanks!

July is the winter school holiday month, so there are a lot of travelers in Rio and other resorts during that period. Otherwise, the winter is low season and Rio and other travel destinations are low key. Well, low-key by Brazilian standards, which is pretty high-key everywhere else! ;)

The weather in June/July in Rio is pretty rainy and chilly, but we do get some beautiful sunny days where one can afford going to the beach, but it happens like once in a week. As for Parati, it will be packed in July for its vacation time, and as the city has other attractions aside from the sea, people do go there to stay by the mountain and have some trouts.

For June it's pretty slow in Paraty, except for the following dates: 26th-29th Chorpus Christi Holiday (we are having an event at one of the country houses there on this very weekend, check out our website on Romanus Club: http://romanusrj.sites.uol.com.br

And from June 30th-July6th, there will the ParaCine, Paraty's international film festival, so there will be lots of action in the city as well...

But again Paraty in this time of the year is pretty cozy and good to have lots to drink and to have a good company by the fireplace... and it's not the place to go to the sea with very little clothes on...

Enjoy Paraty and Rio and the warmth of their people...}(

The whole month. School basically lets out for the summer right before Xmas and the summer holiday continues to the end of February. The winter school holiday is the month of July, so resorts fill up with vacationing families and college students. The other big travel period in Brazil (and all of the Latin world) is Holy Week. The rest is "low season."
