Hi everyone. I tried to email Wellington about arranging taxi service from the airport but my email was returned as undeliverable when I used the two links provided on this site. Has anyone been successful using these addresses or does anyone have a better address? Thanks very much.

I wouldn't rely too much on Wellington if I were you. In March, I had asked him to pick me up at the hotel (at 20H00) to drive me back at the airport. At 20H30 : nobody had shown up ! I made a phone-call to check what was happening. Well, nothing special ... The guy was miles away from my hotel, driving another customer, and supposedly in a traffic jam. Of course, he had never thought a single minute to call me ...

I made the same mistake a few weeks later, the 02nd of May. There again, I had to catch my plane at the airport. I had arranged a meeting at 19H00 with Fabiano, a former boy at Roger's, now a taxi driver (he can be seen very often in front of Point 202, at night). At 19H15,I was still waiting Fabiano. I asked the hotel desk to make a phone call to him... Well, his car had broken down and he was terribly sorry. That's it.

Those ex-escorts who have gone into taxi driving are simply amateurs of the worst kind. I will never again rely on them, especially for a drive to or from the airport.

Transfers in and out of Rio and São Paulo

If you do need any transfers from Rio we can arrange for reliable, English speaking drivers/guide, who can also include a little tour on the side when you arrive or when you live.

And we also offering now a transfer out by boat (for larger groups), where the driver picks you up on the hotel takes you to Marina da Glória and there you get a boat to Ilha do Governador, seeing Rio from the Bay (an unforgetable farewell...), making it a special way to say goodbye and in Ilha's marina there will be a driver to take you to the airport.

Whenever you need any real service you must count on true professionals to make your Brazil experience really worthwhile, you may pay a little bit more but it will surely be a hassle-free experience.

Um abraço,

RE: Transfers in and out of Rio and São Paulo

A very reliable taxi service/tour guide is Wilton da Costa. I used Wilton last year on the recommendation of Odilo Lima. Wilton met me at the airport - was waiting on me with a sign with my name. Took me to the apartment in Copacabana. I believe the charge was US$25.00. Wilton and his family lived one block over from my apartment so he was at hand for tour services. He is a registered tour guide and speaks fluent English. He was always on time or early. Last September, his tour guide service was R$45.00/hour - extremely reasonable for the service. He has great suggestions of sites to visit. Wilton is not gay (I met his family - mother, wife, and 2 children) but he is gay friendly. He took me and my Brazilian friend wherever we wanted to go. I have not tried his e-mail lately. It was detaiw@ig.com.br. His cell number is 21 9974 8341. He really became a friend during the two weeks I spent in Rio. I have already reserved his services for September 2003.

I also plan on using the service(s) of Tomcal's friend Eduardo. We have already exchanged e-mails!
