I wanted to start a clean thread on this subject. Tri is the one person who has encouraged my interest in travelling to RIO this OCtober. In private mails and in his public postings he has exhibited knowledge, compassion, and love for Brazilians and for 1st time visitors. His knowledge is extensive and objective enough to fill a travellers guide to rival any already published. His compassion and love of the country and it's people makes any reader with similar interest fall in love . And his encouragement and tutoring of potential first time visitors enables newbies to plan effectivley for their trip. TRI IS THE MAN FOR THE MODERATOR'S JOB.

In spite of the slams from others (with their own adgendas) I am comfortable with his selection. Congratulations Mr. Brazil!

Look forward to finally meeting you in October! (assuming of course that I can get an entry ticket to Soiree #2. It looks like that may be a tough ticket to come by)

All the best in your new position. Don't let the naysayer rile you. He has been struggling to find a new target all week.

Gosh, I feel like I should be making an Oscar speech to thank everyone who made this possible. Except that the list (and the vital statistics to go with them) would start to sound like the Brazilian telephone directory! Not to mention all the non-Brazilian friends who've generously shared information over the years. And all the encouraging M4Mers!

Anyway, I've accepted the position provisionally. I'm no computer expert, so I'll have to see how it goes and if I learn how to moderate effectively. If I don't, I suppose Hoo will bounce me! ;)

I think the FAQ section is a great idea of Hoo's, so if you have factual information to add, please start putting it there. I'm going to create some headings as a guide, but please add your own as needed. I'd suggest sub-headings for major destinations, like Rio, SP and BA (like Rio - Hotels; Rio - Saunas; Rio - Restaurants), but perhaps only one for smaller destinations, like Parati! If I ever learn how to move materials in the forums I may start going back through the old posts and transfer useful info from them into the FAQ section. This may be a slow process, though. And this assumes I ever learn how to actually do the moderator stuff!

I agree with the note.

I met Tri personally and, wheather he survided after my Italian Spaghetti he will be the best help for explaining and encouraging new lovers of brazil and his beauties. This was a great help for me and I give my testimony of the great enjoyment I had and the discover of very unforgettable new friends.

Ciao a tutti.

And thanks to Chris for the spaghetti lunch. One always learns something new. Until Chris cooked for me and his friend Carlos, I didn't know that in Italy (or at least in the Veneto, where Chris is from) lunch could consist of TWO kinds of spaghetti, served side-by-side on the same plate! (An a la giardinera version with cubed fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, and a classical version with tomato sauce.)

The food was delicious and the company delightful. Thanks, Chris! We must do this again!

Jackhammer- I thank you! You expressed the sentiments and thoughts and congratulations that I, too, acknowledge when it comes to Trilingual, a man for whom I have the utmost respect, an individual whose guidance and information has enabled me to experience another culture in its truest sense, and someone I yearn to meet in person soon! Congrats TRI! Not only is the man talented enough to give travel advice about Rio, moderate a forum and know just about every person in Copacabana....but he can party! I hooked up with him last Monday at Incontrus and I gotta tell you it was a blast. Incontrus was really happening! Lots of action, great looking guys with sweaty hot bodies and no shirts and great music. Our party man TRI even held in to party to the early hours of the morning. You da man!

Regards & Congrats!

It has been a pleasure encouraging you to follow that dream. Those Brasilian studs will open doors you never ever dreamed existed. Right now I don't think I'll be in Rio for the October convergence, but I'm sure other members will guide you along with way. After just returning from a 2 month stay, I am thinking about Christmas through Carnavale 04.

It was a pleasure meeting Tri, spending some time with him as he began outfitting his apartment in Rio, shopping Saara, and buddy cruising, to our mutual success, in Campo Santana. He's knowledgeable, compassionate and dedicated to sharing the great Brasilian adventure. Although I still claim seniority with my 82 arrival in Brasil, I bow to his expertise and his diplomacy as a moderator. I wish him every success.

If you got Tom down to one trick a night there would be many a broken heart among the sauna boys. But its not that there is any shortage of handsome attractions, its just that i am thinking of backing the Christmas holidays into New Years and just staying through Carnavale 04. That's my thinking right now, but we'll see. One day our paths will cross.;)

Thanks for the ringing endorsements, guys! Let's see if you still feel the same way a few weeks from now! ;)

The evening at Incontrus (which is next door to Corujinha) was definitely fun! I haven't been going to discos much now that I'm in my dotage, but I may have to reconsider. The crowd couldn't have been hotter, better built or better looking! That sure helped keep my attention and energy from flagging! Otherwise I'd have never made it to such a wee hour of the morning (like 3:30 a.m.)! Byronbay's company and good humor were great additions to the evening! Of course, he's a thirty-something, so he's got energy to burn! We'll have to do it again sometime!

BTW, although Incontrus is lots of fun, it does get a mixed crowd including lots of escorts or would-be escorts. Brazilian friends CONSTANTLY warn about the dangers of "Boa Noite, Cinderela" (Brazilian for being slipped a drugged drink and then being robbed), so make every effort to buy your own drinks and don't accept drinks from anyone you don't know well. Incontrus has had a reputation for such occurrences, since unsuspecting or careless foreigners go there and fall victim to the unscrupulous. So please, also keep an eye on your open drinks and be sure they've been in your control. I hate having to promote this kind of paranoia, but unfortunately these things happen and I'd hate to anyone from M4M victimized just because they didn't know about it. Don't let this interfere with your fun, but as always, keep your wits about you and be aware of who you're with and of your surroundings. Fortunately, some of the sauna boys frequent Incontrus, so if you run into one that you know they can help you identify who might be a safe encounter and who is an unknown quantity. As always, take any "new" friend to a "motel" or sauna, and not back to your own lodgings.

It was great meeting all the rest of the M4Mers who were at the party or in town the past few weeks. I've enjoyed getting to know all of you! We'll have to schedule some more get-togethers when we can all be there!
